Legendary Steelers writer, Ed Bouchette joined the show. Ed was preparing for a happy hour later in the day. Ed said the Steelers aren’t a smokescreen type and it’s something they would never do, but that doesn’t mean they will absolutely take a QB. The guys got Ed into the Kevin Colbert history of trading up or down in the first round. He said he didn’t have a special feeling going into the night the Steelers traded up for Devin Bush. Ed said a QB in round one is not a wasted pick if they truly think he will be the guy to lead them into the future. Ed named Devonte Wyatt as the player he likes the Steelers to take on the first night of the draft, referencing his versatility to play up front. He believes Malik Willis is the number one QB on the Steelers board right now, ahead of Kenny Pickett at number two. Ed added some advice for the guys tomorrow heading into the Pitt Spring Game.

Pat talked about the recruiting process and scouting and finding those next great Pitt players. He talked about some of the players on the roster and previewed the spring game on Saturday. 

Pirates broadcaster Greg Brown joined the show. Greg gave some reasons to believe in the Buccos in 2022, including Ke’Bryan Hayes, Bryan Reynolds and Mitch Keller. He talked about the changes in MLB this season and how can make the game more exciting. He got into some of the new technology that will help the game’s pace. He also said the Pirates are “100% not trading Reynolds.”

Derek Stingley Jr. had a good showing at the LSU Pro Day with Mike Tomlin in attendance. With the Steelers awful history of drafting defensive backs, would Stingley be a player to break the mold? The guys debated if it’s worth taking the chance.

Georgia football insider, Mike Griffith joined the show. With the plethora of talent from the Bulldogs heading into the draft, Mike couldn’t say enough about the future NFL players on display. He said George Pickens would be a great addition to the Steelers wide receivers room. He also went in-depth about the defensive stars that will be flooded throughout the first round of the NFL Draft, but he does have concerns about Jordan Davis.

He also said the Steelers have interest in offensive line, corner back and defensive line if they don’t go QB, with Devin Lloyd, the inside linebacker from Utah being the dark horse. The guys asked Jordan the chances the Steelers bring in a player like Jarvis Landry, who he expects to sign back in Cleveland in the next few days.

The guys were live at Pitt Football Headquarters following the Spring Game draft. The Steelers will be showing a college QB the other side of that facility today when Desmond Ridder comes to town. Keith Jenkins, a Desmond Ridder expert, compared Ridder to Patrick Mahomes yesterday. The guys continued to break that down and debated if Ridder is worth selecting at 20th overall. 

Pitt defensive linemen, Calijah Kancey joined the show. Kancey is on the Blue Team for the spring game, which is The PM Team squad against the Gold Team (Morning Show) on Saturday. Kancey talked about some goals he has going into this season. He recapped what he and the team accomplished in 2021. He got into what he notices in film and how he finds an advantage while being considered undersized. The guys asked him about Aaron Donald, who went from undersized defensive tackle to one of the best players in NFL history. Kancey added what his favorite workouts are and what gets him ready for a season.
