Mike McCarthy spoke a little bit about Joey Porter Jr. today as the Steelers corner continues to await a new contract, but has practiced. Porter wore pads for the first time today ahead of the 2026 campaign. Is it clear that the Steelers just don’t value the position the way other teams do? They can franchise tag Porter and get him at a bargain. There are new teams thrown out there that could trade for Porter – which would provide the best return for Peezy?
Donny Football Debrief – Mike Tomlin joined Dan Patrick today and gave us a few quotes for fodder.
Steelers reporter Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined show. Ray confirmed that Joey Porter Jr. was in pads today as the Steelers continued their prep for the Falcons. Ray thinks it’s a sign of goodwill from Porter, but also a sign that he is getting ready to play in Week 1. Ray expects Porter to be out there against the Falcons in 10 days. Did Ray get anything from the conversation Porter had with Omar Khan? Ray doesn’t think Porter truly wants to be the highest-paid corner in the league. Ray believes there is still an ongoing battle at right tackle and guessed that Dylan Cook would be the guy there in Week 1. Ray said it could be tough for Spencer Anderson since he doesn’t really know who will be starting next to him and he’s also new at right guard. Did Aaron Rodgers take an unwarranted shot at Roman Wilson yesterday? Ray thinks Roman is ‘still in good shape,’ but if he makes mistakes that could very easily change. Ray wouldn’t be surprised if we see all 3 TEs more than Germie Bernard. Ray talked about Bernard like a guy who may have trouble getting a helmet on game day.
