Hour 2: Report from the longest-running Steelers insider that the Steelers will meet with Russell Wilson as the QB hits free agency and could be willing to sign for the veteran minimum. The guys think even though Wilson has lost a step, for the price it is hard to deny. We also found out what Mitch Trubisky will be making in his new contract with the Bills – it’s more than what Wilson will make next season. If the Steelers are pursuing Wilson, are they really backing Kenny Pickett the way we have heard they are? What are the chances of this happening? The guys think it might be better than 50/50 right now. The report said Wilson is meeting with another team – which teams could it be and which ones have better situations than the Steelers? And is Wilson really that bad?
KDKA TV legend Bob Pompeani joined the show. Bob reacted to the news that the Steelers will be meeting with Russell Wilson. He thinks Mason Rudolph would still be the Steelers top choice and thinks it’s his best option as well. Does Pomp think it would be a competition if Wilson is signed by the Steelers? The guys joked with Bob about Starkey prank calling him on Saturday. The chat then shifted to the Penguins and if they will ultimately make the deal involving Jake Guentzel. Pomp said he’s not interested in what potential Rangers return or anything that is just draft capital.
Are we worried about Russell Wilson because he’s a “weird” guy? Are we worried that things didn’t work out in Denver with Sean Payton? Is the idea of Mason Rudolph being back a real thing and for what price? But will Wilson want more money?
