The guys think the Pens could still deal Guentzel with the deadline being tomorrow afternoon. What does the Wilson thing mean for the Steelers? What would hold it back and why would it be good? 

NHL insider David Pagnotta from NHL Network joined the show. David told the guys where things stand right now on Jake Guentzel and how close we are to seeing a trade happen. He said a team like the Rangers could end up being the team to make things happen. David said the price for a few teams right now is still too high and some are worried because Guentzel could be a true rental that hits free agency this summer. David thinks the Golden Knights could be a team to monitor as well. The guys asked David about some other players the Pens could part with ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. David got into what kind of return the Penguins could be looking at in some of these potential deals. He insisted that the Penguins want to get things done, but didn’t promise us that the deal will get done today – however he does think they want it done ASAP. 

The guys reacted to what David Pagnotta told us about the latest on Jake Guentzel. One of the names brought up in the return was Kaapo Kakko of the Rangers, along with a 1st round pick. Kakko has very underwhelming numbers since being selected 2nd overall a few years back, but could he match well with Sidney Crosby like everybody else? Does Kyle Dubas have to bring the asking price down a little bit before he’s left holding the bag? What is the best offer the Penguins could get for Guentzel? And if a trade happens, when will it be done?

Will the Steelers shock us and make a move for Russell Wilson or Justin Fields in the next week? Are members of the Steelers staff really that upset about quarterback speculation? Is Pickett’s job safe when he wasn’t drafted by Omar Khan or Andy Weidl?

The guys asked Jeff why things didn’t work out for Kevin Dotson here, but they did for him in LA – big time. Jeff does not think Mason Rudolph will be back in a Steelers uniform next season. The guys laughed about some breaking news regarding Mitch Trubisky. Jeff was asked about some potential Steelers cap cuts and who could be leaving Pittsburgh. Jeff told the guys he is working on something regarding some of the worst free agent signings in Steelers history. 

There is a rumor that the Steelers have their eyes on Patrick Queen. This didn’t make Mullsy happy because that means they would be spending big money on an inside linebacker. The guys connected the dots and reminded people how highly Mike Tomlin talked about Queen ahead of the two matchups the teams had this season and throughout Queen’s career in Baltimore. Is this another sign of the Steelers continuing to chase after the next Ryan Shazier?

Hour 3: The Steelers are getting called out by Ryan Clark with the way they are telegraphing the quarterback position. He thinks going forward with Kenny Pickett and a middling backup QB, it is on-brand for the franchise, but also dead wrong with how they are going about things. The guys like Clark going at the Steelers again because he is someone who has been there and done that with the organization – reaching the highest level, and he thinks that hits home a little bit more to the team and front office. Does it mean more when defensive players don’t see a positive future for Pickett? How do some of the Steelers own defensive stars feel about Pickett as QB, especially Cam Heyward, who could very well be entering the final year of his career?
