The year 2018 was challenging for Cape and Islands police departments, after Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon was fatally shot serving an arrest warrant in April. In July 2018 while police and the community were still reeling from Sergeant Gannon’s death, two Falmouth officers were shot while responding to a call. Sometimes called the silent epidemic, suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. This according to the Center for Disease Control. On The Point, we talk with public health professionals about how to recognize warning signs, who is most at risk, and how to seek help.
