This episode in so many ways is a reminder for us. It is a reminder that you can accomplish and do whatever you set your mind to, regardless of your age. Monish's story is a trail-blazing example of how small nudges in one's childhood can transform someone.

Monish, age 18, is one of the youngest Computer Scientists working in the field of Deep learning, Cognitive Computing, and Cloud Computing. Monish, a child prodigy, excelled in several Olympiads and went on to pursue research in mathematics at Harvard University.

Over the past several years, Monishwaran has developed numerous projects, using Artificial Intelligence, that target the field of healthcare ranging from accelerating the diagnosis of Schizophrenia to combating Malaria using blood diagnosis. Monishwaran has been invited by several universities to give Master Classes and Guest Lectures in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing. Besides, he is a TEDx speaker, and keynote speaker at several international tech conferences. Monishwaran aims to spread the knowledge of computer programming and guide novice developers and children through his books and lectures. His project, The Neural Connect, uses deep learning to change the way humans interact with the environment and provides a new communication media for people who can't communicate effectively. His other inventions include Project TAR-Teaching Through Augmented Reality, Assistive technology for the Hearing and Visually Impaired, Anti-traffic congestion system, Air mouse. He is currently involved in bringing the power of Quantum Computing to the hands of common people.

"I made a washing machine when I was in primary school, by 8 I was proficient in 3 programming languages (!!) My life long curiosity to know about how things work started at an early age when my dad and I used to dismantle and put together various machines around the house."

Monish was moved after he witnessed an accident of a visually impaired individual and wondered how the technologies that he was so taken to, could help. As someone familiar with Machine Learning(ML), he set out to build an ML-Computer Vision based interface that provided voice feedback to the user augmenting their auditory abilities.

Monish says, "my goal is to use technology to improve the lives of people."

The projects he's worked on range from computer vision for the blind to tools that aid doctors in diagnosis of neurological conditions like ALS and Parkinsons in collaboration with India's leading mental health institutes NIMHANs.

"Everyday, I say to myself, have I done something to improve the life of another person?"
