VERSE: The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. John 10:3-4

✔️ - One of the greatest benefits of our salvation has to be that of hearing God speak to us personally.

✔️ - This is not the way the Lord intended it to be.

✔️ - Learning to clearly distinguish God’s voice is invaluable.

✔️ - It’s just a matter of hearing His voice.

TAKEAWAY:  The first thing we need to do is fix our receivers — believe that God is already speaking and start listening.

TITLE: BEING ONE WITH GOD

VERSE: [Jesus prayed,] “I am coming to you. I told [my followers] many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy.” JOHN 17:13

✔️ - Jesus had some pretty big requests in His conversation with God the Father the night before the Crucifixion.

✔️ - He taught them so they would have joy.

✔️ - It has often been said in our churches and teachings that God’s goal is to make us holy, not happy, but the two go hand in hand.

✔️ - He wants us to be happy.

TAKEAWAY:  That’s one way we can know we’ve heard Him  —the fruit of His voice is (or will be) joy. When He speaks, we will be filled.

PRAYER:  Jesus, let me feast on Your words and experience the fullness of Your joy. I need satisfaction; I was designed to experience delight. May Your words produce pure, unbridled joy in my heart.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: WHO IS BEHIND THE VEIL?

VERSE: We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 2 CORINTHIANS 3:13-14

✔️ - Before Jesus came, fallen human beings had to be shielded from God’s glory.

✔️ - we don’t really know anyone who has had any success with that.

✔️ - But actually we do. Scripture is full of testimonies of people who had extraordinary encounters with God.

✔️ - If we understand that the veil has been taken away, we will.

TAKEAWAY:  The only limits to our hearing are the lack of expectancy in our own prayers and lack of zeal or commitment. Faith and persistence lead to glory.

PRAYER:  Lord, may I never impose limits to our relationship that You have already removed. Light a fire in me to press into Your presence beyond the former veil.

TITLE: GOD'S REMARKABLE SECRETS

VERSE: The disciple Jesus loved was sitting next to Jesus at the table. Simon Peter motioned to him to ask, “Who’s he talking about?” JOHN 13:23-24

✔️ - The disciples were eating their last meal with Jesus, and one of them was leaning against the Lord at the table.

✔️ - He got the inside information on what was about to happen.

✔️ - God is willing to have that kind of friendship with any of us, of course.

✔️ - We just want to hear from Him.

TAKEAWAY:  He will not ignore your question. He will find a way to communicate with you in a way you understand, and you will find a way to hear. He speaks to those who know Him well enough to listen to His whispers.

PRAYER:  Jesus, help me silence my soul so the only voice stirring in my depths is Yours. Let me ask You questions, even small ones, as I’m learning to hear. Help me recognize Your answers, however they come. Just as John knew You, let me draw close to You as a friend.

VERSE: The laws of the LORD . . . are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them. PSALM 19:9, 11

✔️ - We’re uncomfortable with the idea of rewards, but God isn’t.

✔️ - That’s just the way it is.

✔️ - That’s why God’s commands are still intensely relevant for believers today.

✔️ - And if God is giving out rewards for those who love Him enough to follow Him well, it only makes sense for Him to let us know how to receive them.

TAKEAWAY:  Disobedience may have consequences, but so does living in a way that’s consistent with God’s nature and character. His words, if followed, become catalysts for abundant blessings in our lives.

PRAYER:  Lord, I want Your best for my life. I want to experience Your fullness and joy. My mind realizes that any impulse to step out of Your will might cause me to miss a blessing; let my heart agree. I renounce any attempt to earn Your rewards but embrace every effort to receive them.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: SWEETER THAN HONEY

VERSE: The laws of the LORD . . . are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. PSALM 19:9-10

✔️ - The Old Testament is filled with eloquent passages about the beauty and benefits of God’s commands.

✔️ - The laws of God, even though spoken directly by Him, do not give life when we attempt to follow them.

✔️ - What are we to do with this?

✔️ - In each approach, God’s words remain the same; our response to them, however, is drastically different.

TAKEAWAY:  But then, instead of adopting His instructions as principles and precepts, follow who He is. See the Spirit behind the words, then passionately follow the Spirit. Learn to love the speaker more than the voice.

PRAYER:  Spirit of God, You speak life. But I fail to live up to Your truth, and my own efforts are remarkably adept at turning Your words into death. Teach me to love Your words rather than develop formulas from them. Let them come alive in my heart.

TITLE: FROM THE HEART OF GOD

VERSE: Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? JOB 40:2

✔️ - “I have never been one to suppress a good conversation.

✔️ - I invite you  —even urge you  —to be completely, audaciously honest with Me.

✔️ - “I want you to speak with Me as a friend, but I also want you to know the gap I had to bridge for us to have that kind of relationship.

✔️ - But realize how much higher My wisdom is, and listen to it.

TAKEAWAY:  Know Me as your closest friend. Don’t shrink back. But never take this friendship for granted. You are always and forever on holy ground. Assume the infinite wisdom of the one to whom you speak.”

PRAYER:  Lord, I realize I have no right to argue with You. Yet You have invited so many of Your friends into brutally honest conversations with You. What’s the right balance? Do I fall on my face or come boldly to Your throne? Teach me to contend with You with honor.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: WHY TRUST GOD?

VERSE: I [Paul] pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. EPHESIANS 3:16

✔️ - The visiting speaker had a reputation for insightful prophetic words  —expressing God’s heart for people in situations that no stranger could have known on his own.

✔️ - “Trust God.”

✔️ - That wasn’t the specific word she was looking for, and she was deeply disappointed.

✔️ - She had already heard God clearly, and asking for another confirmation came from a lack of trust. God was letting her know she could rely on what she had already heard.

TAKEAWAY:  We forget that Jesus is in us and we can trust His Spirit. What He has spoken within our hearts is just as valid as what He speaks to us through others. When He is silent outwardly, we can rest in what He says inwardly.

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, may I never be guilty of downplaying the treasure You’ve put in me. You are completely trustworthy, and You reside within me. Inspire me with Your desires and direction, and give me the faith to believe.

TITLE: GOD HAS NOT CHANGED

VERSE: The Word became human and made his home among us. JOHN 1:14

✔️ - Paul wrote a lot about the power of the Cross, explaining that his message had little to do with human wisdom, but rather was based in the Spirit’s power from above.

✔️ - He is an expression of the God who is above all.

✔️ - What does that mean when God speaks to us?

✔️ - He is the God who thunders from heaven, even when His thunder is just a whisper.

TAKEAWAY:  When we invite Him to speak to us, we are inviting earthshaking words. And our ears should listen for nothing less.

PRAYER:  Jesus, You are the power of God in the flesh. Speak that power into my life. I don’t want weak words; I want change. Rattle my world with the thunder of Your voice.
