THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: MYSTERIOUS WAYS

EPISODE: 22-180

VERSE: He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness. DANIEL 2:22

✔️ - A well-known hymn declares that God moves in mysterious ways, and it’s true.

✔️ - God punctuated those seasons with words of encouragement, correction, or instruction.

✔️ - Think about it: Abraham went twenty-five long years between a promise and its fulfillment, not knowing for most of those years exactly how or when the promise would be realized.

✔️ - Those who experience the greatest unveilings seem to be those who ask for them.

TAKEAWAY:  God chooses to let some things remain veiled  —without losing heart in the process. When the time is right, He will help you discover things that have been hidden in darkness.

PRAYER:  Revealer of mysteries, no secret is hidden from You. You know every corner of every heart and every situation in this world, including mine. Let me never judge or limit the ways You speak or the secrets You reveal. Guide me in every way I need to go.

PRAYER:  Father, it’s Your nature to share what You have. That’s what love does. And You have all wisdom and knowledge. I need guidance and solutions to problems. My eyes and ears are open, and I’m asking in faith. Fill me with Your truth.

VERSE: Those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. ROMANS 8:5

✔️ - God is working within you.

✔️ - God is busy shaping your thoughts, your will, and your works for His good pleasure.

✔️ - Most Christians are deeply suspicious of their own desires, and we have some basis for that.

✔️ - He is cultivating us to want what He wants for us.

TAKEAWAY:  When your will and His will align, it may feel like you are simply seeking your own interests. But you are seeking His interests too. And both you and He will be satisfied with the results.

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, are my desires really okay? Have You put Your desires within me? Help me discern which ones are Yours and which have flowed out of my own selfishness. Satisfy me with the fulfillment of every desire that fits Your purposes.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: WAIT AND SEE

EPISODE: 22-176

VERSE: We are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. 1 JOHN 5:14-15

✔️ - For most of us, the normal pattern of prayer is to ask God to accomplish certain things.

✔️ - We’ll have to see when  —and if  —the results come in.

✔️ - According to biblical promises, God means for our prayers to be more confident than that.

✔️ - In order to have specific faith in what we ask, we need to know that what we ask fits God’s purposes.

TAKEAWAY:  He invites us to ask what His will is  —and then, when we’ve heard, to pray that His will be done. Confidently.

PRAYER:  Father, if you tell me my prayer is consistent with Your will, I will maintain unwavering faith until the answer shows up. Help me pray Your desires and mine in confidence.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: THE CARROT

EPISODE: 22-175

VERSE: The LORD took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” GENESIS 15:5

✔️ - God gave Abraham (Abram) a profound and powerful promise, and Abraham believed it.

✔️ - For long years, the word seemed always visible, yet painfully unattainable.

✔️ - That’s often how God works, as Joseph, David, and many others would be able to testify.

✔️ - God’s word to us is a seed that often takes a really long time to grow.

TAKEAWAY:  They are planted deep in the soil of our hearts and circumstances, and they will grow up and bear fruit.

PRAYER:  Lord, I know Your words will test my resolve. Please help me not only to endure the process faithfully but also to be strengthened throughout it. May I, like Abraham, end up with a faith that does not waver.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: TIME TO ROAR

EPISODE: 22-174

VERSE: The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 CORINTHIANS 3:6, NIV

✔️ - No one has to tell a lion to roar.

✔️ - Because He tells us to, but because it’s our nature.

✔️ - The letter can’t accomplish that, but the Spirit can.

✔️ - His Spirit gives us the life we need in order to really live.

TAKEAWAY:  But if we can repeatedly and single-mindedly focus on God - if we can develop a Godward gaze and depend on His life within us - our inner nature will be powerfully transformed. And we will experience the Spirit who gives life.

PRAYER:  Holy Spirit, plant Your words in me like seeds that spring to life. Let my inner nature flourish. Let Your deepest thoughts become my deepest thoughts. Live strong within me, and let me rest in Your efforts.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: THE VOICE THAT ENABLES

EPISODE: 22-173

VERSE: The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 CORINTHIANS 3:6, NIV

✔️ - God gave Israel a lot of instructions.

✔️ - God Himself spoke them for the benefit of His people.

✔️ - So what do we do with Paul’s statement that the letter of the law kills?

✔️ - That’s a recipe for guilt, shame, and ultimately, death.

TAKEAWAY:  There is no death in that. We live from hearts that have come alive and can do all that is planted within.

PRAYER:  Honestly, Lord, my efforts to do what Your Word says have been frustrating. I can never quite seem to “get there.” Please transform me from within by Your Word. Help me be everything Your Word calls me to be.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: THE GENTLE WHISPER

EPISODE: 22-172

VERSE: As Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake, there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire, there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 1 KINGS 19:11-12

✔️ - Centuries earlier, God had spoken to Moses amid thunder, lightning, a thick cloud of smoke, and a powerful blast of a horn.

✔️ - God speaks to Elijah differently than He spoke to Moses, and He makes a point of it.

✔️ - What statement is God making?

✔️ - Was God’s way of saying, “I have different ways of dealing with people at different times?"

TAKEAWAY:  Sometimes when we’re straining to hear the subtle voice, He hits us over the head with His truth. We can’t focus on one mode of communication. We have to be ready for anything God wants to say - however, He wants to say it.

PRAYER:  Lord, help me to remain alert to Your voice in all of its forms. Make my spirit sensitive at all times. Shout to me, whisper to me, speak however You want. I’m listening.
