THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: GOD AMONG THEM

EPISODE: 22-171

VERSE: Your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth. EXODUS 33:16

✔️ - God pulled His people out from among the Egyptians...

✔️ - The one identifying characteristic that sets these people apart  —is that God’s presence is among them.

✔️ - That speaks volumes about our efforts to be separate from the world.

✔️ - All that His presence entails, including His voice.

TAKEAWAY:  We are guided, not self-directed. We are immersed in a relationship, not an ideology. When we choose to live in full awareness of His presence, our spiritual senses open up to hear and see new things.

PRAYER:  Lord, let me never confuse Your voice with mere religious principles and ideals. Help me always focus on Your living presence and Your voice above all else. You are far more than a belief; You are my life.

✔️ - John Hyde, the famous missionary to India known for his radical life of prayer...

✔️ - The presence of God always seemed to him to be a tangible reality.

✔️ - Many considered Hyde to be a little odd.

✔️ - He’s in the hearts of those who believe in Jesus as their Savior.

PRAYER:  Jesus, You are with me even as I read this, even as I pray this prayer, and even as I think about all the truths You have revealed. THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE: ONE DAY IN HEAVEN

EPISODE: 22-168

VERSE: The LORD replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest  —everything will be fine for you.” EXODUS 33:14

✔️ - Many people assume that God’s voice will be negative and judging.

✔️ - Many people don’t have ears to hear such things.

✔️ - But God is a God of comfort and encouragement and presence.

✔️ - God wants to lift us up.

TAKEAWAY:  The Spirit dwells within, all of the promises of God are “yes and amen” in Christ, and we are a new creation enabled to relate to Him intimately. This is the context in which we hear His voice. And it will almost always be deeply encouraging.

PRAYER:  Lord, my ears are much more attuned to convicting messages than to affirming ones, but I need plenty of encouragement. Please show me Your smile and let me hear Your uplifting words. I know Your plans for me are good, and I welcome Your sharing them with me often.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

TITLE:  SO WE THIRST

EPISODE: 22-167

VERSE: As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? PSALM 42:1-2

✔️ - Sometimes we long to be rescued.

✔️ - We have deeper needs than we know how to satisfy.

✔️ - So we thirst. Sometimes we can’t put a finger on what we’re thirsting for, but we know it’s beyond our own resources.

✔️ - We need to be known at the deepest level and embraced there.

TAKEAWAY:  But before all that is the thirst. If it’s strong enough, we won’t stop listening, even if a hearing is difficult. We will long for streams of water until we find them.

PRAYER:  Lord, satisfy this quest. My relentless thirst is for You. Quench it with gushing streams of Your wisdom and inspiration. Let Your words fulfill my deepest desires.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

✔️ “If it is true . . .” Our theological conscience might cringe...

✔️ Yet Moses questioned it.

✔️ Apparently, in spite of all the revelation God had given him, Moses didn’t sense that he knew enough about God’s ways to continue to please Him.

✔️ Yet the heart of this God still remained elusive.

TAKEAWAY: No matter how much we’ve seen and heard, we are right to ask to see and hear more. And as He did with Moses, God will honor that request with an answer.

PRAYER: Lord, if it’s true that You look favorably on me  —and You’ve made it clear through Your Son that You do  —show me more. Lead me on an adventure of knowing You more fully every day.

✔️ There is a hint of accusation in Moses’ voice.

✔️ Otherwise, the trip wouldn’t be worth the trouble.

✔️ God does not respond in anger or impatience.

✔️ It was a plea for help.

TAKEAWAY: Our moments of need tend to open our ears, and He delights in the attention we give Him. Out of our lament, He speaks and deepens His presence in our lives.

PRAYER: Father, use any frustration in my life to draw me closer to You. Hear my words not as complaints but as pleas for more of You. In those moments of crisis, speak to me with Your presence.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

✔️ Some of Israel’s leaders looked down on Moses’ relationship with God and assumed they were just as special as he was.

✔️ Letting him be the intermediary between themselves and God.

✔️ Joshua was different.

✔️ But anyone who meets with God on His terms is qualified to relate to Him deeply.

TAKEAWAY: He set his heart on what is most important, and God eventually related to him just as He had related to Moses. If we see what Joshua has done —and if we accept that as an invitation to do the same —we will experience the same kinds of rewards.

PRAYER: Lord, You are just as willing to relate to me as You are to anyone. But I am hungrier than most. I’ll sit in Your presence as long as it takes. Fill my heart with Your voice.

THE POWER OF GOD'S WHISPER

✔️ Arguably the two most prominent figures in the Hebrew Scriptures.

✔️ And God was not reluctant to engage them in conversation.

✔️ One of the hardest things to balance in our relationship with God is the tension between familiarity and awe.

✔️ We find Him speaking in more familiar terms than we might expect.

TAKEAWAY: What could possibly prevent us from running to God and zealously pursuing a face-to-face friendship? Why would we ever be content with not hearing Him well? He invites us into an intimate conversation. We should never settle for anything less.

PRAYER: Majestic God, whisper Your personal thoughts to me. Let me know You more deeply than I’ve ever been taught, more directly than purely religious minds can accept. I want to experience You as profoundly as You have ever allowed anyone to experience You.

✔️ "You will find that the power of My words is fully invested in you."

✔️ “I’m not urging you to put My words under a microscope and become legalistic, as religious experts of the past have done."

✔️ "I move the hearts of loyal friends."

TAKEAWAY: "Your prayers will not bounce off the ceiling. You will believe that I am the God who answers you. I will give you ample evidence to know it in the depths of your heart.”

PRAYER: Lord, hear me when I call! Your words mean everything to me. Everything. My desires are Your desires. I am zealous about whatever comes out of Your mouth. Let my responses to You, and Your responses to me, be quick and decisive.
