The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast

VERSE: God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 2 CORINTHIANS 5:20

✔️ Jesus is the Word of God, the logos behind all of creation, and the written Word is His revelation.

✔️ He reveals Himself through a multitude of stories.

✔️ So we make appeals as if we were the voice of Christ, pleading with people to be reconciled to God.

✔️ His presence and His voice into every corner of this world.

TAKEAWAY: We need to remember our sacred role. We not only hear and receive God’s voice; we are called to express it everywhere we can.

PRAYER: Lord, my story doesn’t seem very dramatic or impressive. Yet I know Your hand has been deeply involved in writing it. Therefore, it reveals something about You. May I never be guilty of hiding or minimizing Your glory in my story. I share You well by sharing who I am.

✔️ Moody was desperate for greater fruitfulness.

✔️ He had given him a personal encounter with Himself.

✔️ He chose repeatedly to honor the Holy Spirit above all other concerns in his ministry, and the results changed history.

TAKEAWAY: Whatever specific role God speaks to you, it’s true, even if it seems unlikely. His words will call you out of hiding and into the glory of your destiny.

PRAYER: Really, Lord? I find Your words about me to be far loftier than I deserve or expect. Help me grow into the vision You have for me. I am everything You say I am, simply because You say so.

VERSE: Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. PSALM 37:4

✔️ Every human being on the planet has desires, and everyone longs for them to be fulfilled.

✔️ The real goal of our faith is not to get rid of desires but to align our desires with God’s purposes.

✔️ the outcome is the same: When we delight ourselves in Him.

✔️ But is that really God’s heart?

TAKEAWAY: But the core of our desires is most likely rooted in a godly impulse, and when the dream takes the right shape and persists over time, it will direct us toward God’s purposes.

PRAYER: Lord, You are the fulfiller of my heart, not the denier of it. Shape my heart to desire Your will. Put Your dreams within me. Speak through the longings that excite me most.

VERSE: You can identify [false prophets] by their fruit. MATTHEW 7:16

✔️ We hear lots of voices. We suspect God’s voice is in the mix somewhere, but we have a hard time distinguishing the others.

✔️ How can we discern God’s voice in the cacophony of alternate messages?

✔️ Jesus told His followers they would recognize false prophets by their fruit.

✔️ One key to discernment is to look at the fruit.

✔️ Consider the fruit of the Kingdom: goodness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit...

TAKEAWAY: Knowing the difference will sharpen our hearing and keep our hearts and minds at peace.

PRAYER: Lord, help me recognize Your words by the environment they create within me. You may speak convicting, sobering words, but I know You will never oppress me with guilt, shame, fear, anxiety, or depression. Fill me with joy and peace, lift me up and inspire me, and give me rest with the sound of Your voice.

VERSE: Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God. Suddenly the LORD called out, “Samuel!” 1 SAMUEL 3:3-4

✔️ God literally woke Samuel up by speaking to him in the middle of the night.

✔️ Samuel responded to the voice that was calling him.

✔️ But this story is about more than Samuel and Eli and Israel before its monarchy.

✔️ We may not at first realize the implications of God’s desire to communicate with us

✔️ His voice makes us come alive.

TAKEAWAY: Let God’s voice awaken you. Just as Jesus raised the dead with the sound of His voice, God will lift you out of whatever darkness surrounds you.

PRAYER: Speak, Lord. I’m listening. I want to hear whatever You have to say. Call me out of my slumber. Use me as a world changer. Make my heart come alive by the power of Your words.

VERSE: Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message. JEREMIAH 18:2, NIV

-Go down to the potter’s house

-There I will give you my message

-It is important to stay connected in our fast-paced culture

-See how God is working in your life and encourage others to see that too

-God had a word for Jeremiah

-He heard the message clearly

-It was a visual message, an illustration from everyday life, a parable

-He told of God’s power, so Jeremiah went to the potter

-God knows how to illustrate His points in our lives too, but we need to learn how to “go down to the potter’s house” to get them.

-When we ask God to teach us through the visual

TAKEAWAY: In the midst of mundane routines, we suddenly grasp spiritual truths by noticing the world around us and spiritually tuning in to what God is saying through it. And everyday life begins to come alive with His voice.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, speak to me in the events of this day. Teach me something new. Show me a parable of Your Kingdom as I open my eyes and ears to Your illustrations.

VERSE: “We have fasted before you!” [the people of Israel] say. “Why aren’t you impressed? We have been very hard on ourselves, and you don’t even notice it!” ISAIAH 58:3

-Hearing my voice is not a religious activity

-Hearing my voice is not the result of religious maneuvers and posturing

-There are times when I call you to fast, to pray, to discipline yourselves in many ways  ---but

-Read/do it because I want intimate partners, not slaves

-I have come down lower than deity and exalted you high

-This is where you can hear and respond to what I say and where I can hear and respond to what you

TAKEAWAY: “Know who you are. Know why I made you and redeemed you. And know what kind of relationship I desire. When you discover that, My words will echo deep in your spirit because it is one with Mine.”

PRAYER: Father, lover of my soul, forgive me for behaving like an attention-seeking child. But my desire really is to relate to You truly, deeply, and closely. Let me. Open my heart to receive all of Yours.

VERSE: [Jesus said,] “Those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.” JOHN 6:37

-Jesus said “Those the Father has given me will come to me”

-Come to Jesus

-Ask him to show you his ways.

-The Bible is the source of life and fullness not religion

PRAYER: Jesus, give me the gift of seeing Your Word with new eyes, as if I’m reading it for the first time every day. Make my vision come alive with new insights every time I gaze into the truth of Your Word.
