The presser: Our brand new podcast format – short-form interviews with female athletes that cover incredible things coming up, and amazing achievements as they happen – just like a press conference, but one on one, in a podcast. 

In this episode of the presser, I had the chance to sit down with track athlete Bendere Oboya, who is this week featuring in her own TV documentary on SBS Viceland and NITV – called RUN GIRL. 

The film follows her journey and search for identity as she switches events from the 400m track to the 800m track in pursuit of becoming the world's best. Growing up in Western Sydney and starting athletics as an escape, the Ethiopian-born 21-year-old is determined to show that no matter your beginnings, anything is possible.
