As a matter of fact, the Declaration closes with these words---And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.--How many of us listening right now would take that same pledge - our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor-- These 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were concerned by their posterity.
