In desperate need of a place to rest during a daunting 6 hour drive with Jonah, my friend Brett Hart and his wife Shannon opened their home and treated us like kings. I could not be more grateful for their hospitality which is why I wanted to take this opportunity to thank them and outline an excellent example of what I will call Extreme Friendship.
Short and incredibly ironic episode about stress in your marriage and how to approach it.
This first little step into our series of achieving goals challenges us to define our goals and narrow the scope of excellence to one definable breakthrough. The theme for this episode in one I struggle with greatly and will be making significant changes to incorporate into my life: Focus.
The importance of accepting help from a third party, the necessity of being an example when asking someone to change, and the incredible importance of distinguishing between your intentions in an interaction vs how the interaction affects the other person.
All three of the big topics discussed greatly changed the way I handle my interpersonal relationships and made me a better friend, coworker, and husband.
We will be starting a new series based on the setting and achieving of goals guided by the book "The 4 Disciplines of Execution". I remember a key moment when my mindset on the topic completely shifted. It was when I told my friend Nick Shelton that I wanted to help other people solve problems, achieve goals, and build things. His reply was a simple yet effective question: "What have you done?". His question forced me to take a serious look at my accomplishments and truly consider their validity. Had I really done anything yet that I could share with others? Were my accomplishments intentional? What accomplishments really fit my strengths? Which ones actually fell short of where they were supposed to end?
This is an important part of learning and is absolutely necessary if you want to continue setting and achieving progressive goals.
Tips and lessons learned from the first few weeks of parenthood.
How are you spending your time? I am taking stock of my minutes, and challenging you to do the same.
No doubt raising children is tough, and even only 6 weeks into it we've been tested and challenged. I wanted to share our approach to prioritizing our marriage and my thoughts on how it has helped us.
The conclusion of our Path of Purpose series revolves around the entrepreneur. I share my experiences starting and failing in business. I give some hot takes on how to choose which business to start, and I'm pretty sure I learned just as much about myself in this episode as you will. Enjoy!
How do you schedule your life around a new baby? Unexpected emotions? Advice to new parents? In my first episode dedicated to parenthood I take on your questions and try to give some decent answers!
