When you have type 2 diabetes, there are no cheat days, but the good news is that most people are able to reverse their type 2 diabetes with a whole foods vegan diet within 2 weeks.
The best accountability buddy you could have is a produce delivery box because once your kitchen is full of produce, you will eat it all to make sure the food does not go bad.
Today’s episode I go over a price comparison of two organic produce delivery companies available in New York: Misfit Markets and Imperfect Foods. I also go into why I canceled my produce delivery service.
This is a sneak peak into one of our recent check-ins in the Self Care Salon.

If you want to get off metformin, the answer is nutrition. The Self Care Salon was created for folks looking to reverse type 2 diabetes and prediabetes and prevent type 2 diabetes.
You create the environment from within yourself to allow healing to take place. It starts with a decision. Decide you want to eat clean. I’ve always taught that you setup your kitchen for success but folks get really caught up in their heads before they can even take that step.
Don’t complain about your condition. Use it as an opportunity to do better. There is always room for improvement. Bob Marley said complaining is prayers to the devil. Here’s another way: Isaiah 33:10 says “But the LORD says: “Now I will stand up. Now I will show my power and might.” You have it within you to do a different thing, to show up more fully in your life. Type 2 diabetes is an opportunity to do that. It is a wake up call.
Below is a sneak peak into one of our recent check-ins in the Self Care Salon where we talk about what more the Bible has to say to motivate us on our wellness journey.

Have you seen the series Undercover Billionaire? It is so inspirational with lots of gems that have me eager to start a brick and mortar business again. My latest conversation with special guest Naijha Wright-Brown reminds me so much of that series. She’s been doing all the things.
Naijha Wright is co-owner of The Land of Kush, a vegan restaurant in Baltimore, and organizes the annual Baltimore Vegan SoulFest. Naijha holds an MBA from The University of Phoenix and previously held positions at Verizon Wireless and Dow Jones. I think more than her degrees, her NYC grit and hustle mentality has her driven to create a whole movement in Baltimore.
If you have a vision of opening a vegan food business, this is the episode to listen to and take notes.

We know that with sufficient sleep, we have less stress hormones in the body, reduced health problems and fewer errors at work, but during such a stressful time such as 2020, sleeping through the night can be difficult.
If stress is waking you up in the middle of the night, other than doing some Emotional Freedom Technique to calm your body down, a great tool you can use is an essential oil.
Brianna Wilkerson, Founder/CEO of Made Well 345, joins me today on the Raw Food Health Empowerment Podcast to discuss how we can use essential oils to get the most amazing sleep ever.

Old patterns and limiting beliefs could be controlling you on a daily basis, leading you to unhealthy foods that sabotage weight loss efforts or working against a healthy lifestyle.
We all have some set of limiting beliefs or fears we need to break through to get to our next level of becoming our best and healthiest self.
Are you truly living staying in the safe zone? Leaning into these fears and anxieties to overcome them is how you fully embrace the opportunity God gives us to become more ourselves as God intended. He is making a diamond from stone.
Jamila AKA The Soulful Veganista joins me today on the Raw Food Health Empowerment Podcast to discuss how to program our subconscious mind to become our healthiest self.

Did you know childhood trauma creates inflammation in the body? Research shows that abuse in childhood and even in adulthood can trigger emotional and physical reactions that can make you more prone to a series of health conditions, including heart attack, stroke, obesity, diabetes, and cancer. Inflammation is the root of chronic illness and fat loss prevention. How do we move forward from the hurt of the past and heal ourselves and stop destructive habits?
April Arlene Owens joins me today on the Raw Food Health Empowerment Podcast to discuss how she is helping women release the trauma and become more confident in their bodies.

This is a much delayed post because I wanted to spend more time and gather more information and personal experiences of Haiti. Haiti is the most disrespected of all the Caribbean islands and I don’t understand why since they played such a huge role in Black liberation history. Today, on this episode of the Raw Food Health Empowerment Podcast, my friend from high school, Elizabeth, shares some insight on why Haiti has been crippled financially and her experiences and memories of the food from her home country.
Join us on this journey.

Our bodies run on a circadian rhythm, which is an internal clock or schedule of which all the important processes that happen in our body run on and it is dictated by our wake, eat and sleep cycles. But we also have an internal clock and rhythm for productivity and energy. For peak energy and performance, it doesn't serve us or our mission/life’s purpose to work for hours straight throughout the day and 7 days a week. We have to take breaks - mental breaks and digital breaks.
My guest on today’s episode, Stephanie Redcross West, started Vegan Mainstream based on a simple idea: to build a pro-vegan world, we need a solid infrastructure of successful businesses and brands to ensure that an ethical lifestyle is accessible to everyone, everywhere. This is her mission and she shares today how she is working towards this goal while practicing self care by setting healthy boundaries.
If you get fatigued, spacey, irritable, distracted, or fidgety at 2 pm in the afternoons, this is the episode to listen to. You are not to blame. Our bodies are not meant to sit for long hours looking at screens. We need to walk and we need to take breaks.
