What are we supposed to do with Scriptural texts that describe terrible acts of violence--sometimes even commanded by God? Dr. Brian Doak offers a few possible ways to deal with this reality while holding fast to the Christian assurance that violence was not part of God's plan for the world.

Dr. Brian Doak is a professor of Biblical Studies with teaching and research interest in the Hebrew Bible & language, and he also serves as vice president of George Fox Digital, GFU's primary center for digital education and innovation.
