Our Guest Duane Marino boasts a diverse work background and is a consultant, sales trainer and strategist.
He entered the automotive space when he was just 16. From running a lube rack, been a lot attendant, to selling cars, operating the family used car operation even today, doing credit and collections, a car loans officer, to the national sales trainer of a major automotive brand and finance arm.
He believes “your failures will propel you as much as your successes if you reflect on being thankful in everything and use whatever opportunities you have today to improve yourself.” In simple terms he shows everyone how to work harder on themselves than they do on their business.
In this 26th Episode of #TheReidMethodInsider #Podcast Duane Marino and i discuss 4 Characteristic of Top Sales Super Achiever’s.
We touch on; 1) Attitude, 2) Body Language 3) Focus and 4) Goal Setting.
1) ATTITUDE: is everything, so why does this keep popping up and need to be constantly addressed in ones quest for ultimate sales success?
"Attitude drives actions. Actions drive results. Results drive lifestyles" Jim Rohn.
"By our attitude, we decide to read, or not to read. By our attitude, we decide to try or give up. By our attitude, we blame ourselves for our failure, or we blame others. Our attitude determines whether we tell the truth or lie, act or procrastinate, advance or recede, and by our own attitude we and we alone actually decide whether to succeed or fail" Jim Rohn.
2)FOCUS. From (Selling Power). Negative influencer: Interruptions. Pessimists. Couch-potato syndrome.
"Interruptions can be frustrating, but they can also be sneaky. Why? Often, they're accompanied by negative thoughts: “I’ll never be able to get this done," or "Everyone else can do this job without getting overwhelmed. There must be something wrong with me." In truth, the negativity that accompanies the external interruption is what makes it difficult to focus" Selling Power.
3. BODY LANGUAGE; how to use body language and how to read it. “Your gestures, voice tone, rate, and volume can all have a profound effect on the success of your negotiations, job interviews, and sales meetings. (Selling Power).
"Whether you are aware of your body language or not, you are sending powerful signals to the receiver. By using smart body language, you are more likely to reinforce your goals rather than distract from your message. In fact, with the rise of technology, nonverbal communication is becoming even more important due to visual technology revolution".
4. GOAL SETTING. Effective Goal Setting. Why is so essential to sales success; Colleen Francis. engageselling.com
How do set meaningful achievable goals? .
a) Plan ahead. Define your objectives. I want to earn 10,000 this month or 120,000 this yr., want to sell this month.
b) Plan to succeed; How do your goals break down into quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily goals?
c) Execute your plan. To give you a baseline on the amount of time it takes to make these daily calls, I make 25 attempts per day, which takes me 2-3 hours to complete. As Zig Ziglar says, "Daily objectives are the best indicators of character."
d)Reinforce your goals to stay motivated.
Keep records and make lists. Successful sales people monitor their progress toward each goal every day, and then list the 5 most important things they need to do the next day to move that goal even further ahead.
