In this episode, I spoke with Nick Keller. Nick is a VES and Tui Award winning senior concept artist currently working at Weta Digital. Nick has worked on film projects including 'The Chronicles of Narnia', 'Avatar', 'The Hobbit' trilogy, 'The BFG', 'Ghost in the Shell', Mortal Engines, 'Avengers Endgame' and many more.   In his spare time, Nick enjoys painting with traditional media, creating fantastical and surreal imagery, mainly in oils. Such projects include collaborations with local and international bands illustrating album artwork, notably all four covers for Wellington's Beastwars.  Nick has contributed to various publications including ‘White Cloud Worlds’ Vol I - III, ‘The Hobbit Chronicles', and a number of 'Spectrum Fantastic Art' Annual issues.  Nick is originally from Tauranga and now lives in Wellington with his wife and two young sons and he is a BJJ purple belt at Combat Room Jiu Jitsu.

In this episode I spoke with Sean Romans. Sean was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, he grew up in a small town called Geraldine where his parents were both teachers. Sean studied Psychology at Otago University in Dunedin and played for the Otago Rugby for 9 years.  Now he is an Agile Coach at Boost, makes music and practice BJJ at Combat Room Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Wellington. Sean and his wife have just returned from a 10-day silent Vipassana retreat.

From her TEDx talk 'Neuroscience of Device Zombies': As a Neuroscience trainer, Kathryn is apprehensively watching for the dawning of the device-zombie-apocalypse. She is concerned about society's willingness to allow young people’s brains to be so heavily exposed to addictive and possibly damaging, screen based technology.Kathryn has dedicated 22 years to understanding how extreme trauma impacts the developing brain. We chat about screen time, how it affects young children, adolescents and adults and what we can do to keep in control of its influence.

ROTSB #25 Aaron Luckman is a tattooist artist from Pukehina based in Wellington at Union Tattoo. He has traveled the world and practises Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and MMA. In this episode he shares his story as a tattoo artist, his heart surgery and his mental health journey.

In this episode of the ROTSB #24 I spoke with New Zealand Strongest Man Tyler Simpson. Tyler is the 2019 Champion of the New Zealand Strongman Series and holds the NZ log lift record. Tyler has trained 8 years powerlifting, 4 years Muay Thai and 2 years Strongman. Born and raised in Wellington, Tyler is also a father of two and works as a contract business analyst. We talk about his training and what it takes to become the strongest man.

In this episode of the #ROTSB I had an awesome conversation with Bobby Semau. Bobby Semau has been training Capoeira for 20 years, and teaches Capoeira in Wellington. He has also been training at the Combat Room for 8 years. Bobby shares his thoughts on achieving a work/life balance and attaining self-fulfilment. He also shares stories from his travels through Japan, China, Samoa and Brazil and how these experiences have impacted his in perspective on training and life. Enjoy.
