The Rising Woman Podcast episodes

  • Seeking Safety

We talk about the constant theme of seeking safety — especially when you feel like you’ve mastered it and new layers come up to be uncovered and healed.

Inside I talk about my life-long journey of seeking safety, the “red zone” of the nervous system, not feeling safe in the body and why so many of us are being triggered right now. I also talk about OCD, rumination, anxiety and all the ways the mind takes over when the body doesn’t feel safe.

This is also for you if you’ve been caught in guilt or shame and for anyone who feels like they are “starting over” on their journey.

    Limbic Brain Retraining: Primal Trust

I highly recommend the Primal Trust Program if you are looking for additional support especially following trauma, abuse and chronic illness. This program has been the missing link for me in helping to heal limbic brain impairment, and the information and tools I wish I had way sooner along my own journey.

  • Building Capacity in the Nervous System

How to start healing the nervous system following trauma and abuse. In this episode I dive into understanding the state of our own nervous system and using discernment to know what we can and cannot handle in the moment.

We talk about listening to our own bodies first and foremost and why our bodies get locked into sympathetic and/or a trauma response. Learning how to go at your own pace, honor exactly where you're at and heal on a deeper level so you can build resiliency and leave the cocoon. 🦋

  • Emotional Flashbacks

TW: Childhood sexual abuse and recovery

Sharing about my journey in navigating emotional flashbacks. I reflect on my own process in handling stress, triggers and when flashbacks arise. Exploring what flashbacks look and feel like somatically, and the recovery process.

I talk about the emotions that arise, including shock, sadness, grief and loneliness. Normalizing this part of the process, especially with repressed trauma and abuse. Why we heal in layers and the role that flashbacks play as we develop greater safety in the body. We also explore the role of self-doubt in the process and trusting ourselves as memories surface.

Moving through triggers and what arises in the body following trauma and abuse. TW: Childhood sexual abuse and recovery.

In this episode we dive into emotional flashbacks, what they feel like in the body somatically and my own journey healing from CPTSD and triggers. We discuss good girl conditioning, people pleasing, co-dependency and trauma responses that we've adopted along the way to stay safe. How to start healing on a deeper level by trusting our intuition, speaking our needs and developing greater self-trust and agency especially when forming new relationships.

Reminder you are not alone if navigating abuse and it's important to get the support you need along the way. I would not be where I'm at today without others and it's important to find those who are trauma-informed and can help guide and help you heal.

Somatic therapy has been the number one healing modality for me and one I recommend if you are moving through childhood sexual abuse and flashbacks. It allows you to create safety in the body and clear stored trauma at a deeper level than traditional talk therapy.
