  • What to Pack for the Perfect Carry-On

Want to travel lighter and smarter? In this episode, we share exactly what to pack (and what to skip) to create the perfect carry-on. Learn how to stay organized, maximize space, and make your trip easier from takeoff to landing, so you can travel confidently with everything you need right at your fingertips.

*Pack a tote that holds things you'll use during the flight if you're not planning to place your carry-on underneath the seat in front of you.  Remember our previous episode about Loungaroo? Their hoodie can serve this purpose and so much more.  Also pack:
    ENTERTAINMENT/WORK:
    Books/magazines (physical and digital)/movies/music
    Phone/tablet/laptop
Chargers and cables for electronic devices (solar charger)
    Headphones/earplugs
    Universal Adapters
    Paperwork and Pen
    Wifi  wherever you go
    COMFORT:
Empty water bottle/thermos to fill up after security in the airport before getting on the flight
    Healthy Snacks
Hand sanitizer/wipes to sanitize your personal area
Compression socks (plan to wear them on long flight days).
    Feminine hygiene (unless you're a guy ;) )

Healing Balm that protects, soothes, and moisturizes the skin
    Sleeping mask with black-out lining
    Travel blanket/pillow
    Tissue
    DOCUMENTS:
    Passport
    Insurance cards (health, travel)

    ESSENTIALS:
    Prescription Glasses/Contacts
    Prescription Medications
    Vitamins
Valuables -always carry on any camera equipment and/or jewelry.
*WHEN your carry-on is also your main suitcase for your trip:
    TSA-approved liquid carry-ons - liquids will fit inside a single quart-sized plastic bag.A
small pill case for general ailments such as a headache, nausea, and allergies.
    CLOTHING:
RAINPROOF JACKET that you can dress up or down.
5-6 TOPS (shirts, blouses, T's, sweaters, sweatshirts)
3-5 BOTTOMS (shorts, pants, skirts, workout wear)

    Swimsuit
    6 pairs of undies
    4-6 pairs of socks
Accessories: belt, jewelry, scarves, tights,  packable hat: one that you can throw in a bag without it losing its shape.
2 Total pairs of shoes (Pack one, wear one).
If you have room, ladies, bring a second bra or sports bra, and pack a dress that you can dress up or down, that coordinates with your other clothing.

  • A Fun Surprise in Holbrook, Arizona

Sometimes the best travel moments are the ones you don’t see coming! In this episode, we share a delightful surprise we discovered in Holbrook, Arizona, a hidden gem that proves adventure can be found anywhere. Tune in to get inspired to slow down, explore off the beaten path, and find joy in unexpected places.

We stopped at the Tourist Office in Holbrook, AZ, for a pit stop and found much more: The Navajo County Historical Society Museum. It's an official Arizona information center. The museum houses the original sheriff's office that served Navajo County beginning in 1989. The adjacent jail was in use until 1976. The rest of the courthouse was built around the cells. Exhibits include a post office, communications equipment, early kitchen items, a late 1800 pump organ, general merchandise, The Route 66 Auditorium, a school room, antique office equipment, law libraries, the Navajo County Sheriff's Hashknife Posse's annual Pony Express Ride memorabilia, military memorabilia, the old court reporter's library, and the Judges' Chamber, a display of the story of the Blevins Shootout when Sheriff Commodore Perry Owens tried to serve and arrest warrant for Andy Cooper, including a model of the Blevins Home where the shootout took place. There are also the WPS and CCC programs of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal (which were completed in the neighboring Petrified Forest National Park and in Holbrook), and much more.  "The Navajo County Courthouse served citizens for seventy-eight years, dispensing justice, collecting tax levies, recording public records, and issuing marriage licenses."

Thanks to Dawn Sawyer for the helpful info and for speaking with us at the Holbrook Tourism Office and Museum maintained by the Navajo County Historical Society.

"How many times have I looked back at a place I haven't visited in 10 years? I think this is a great time for people who are used to traveling to go back to their hard drive ... take some time to revel in the memories," Nabongo said. "I think because we're constantly planning the next trip, we never get to reminisce about what was so great about so many trips that we've already had, whether it's two months ago, two years ago, or 12 years ago."

Even if you can’t make the time right now for an official “Staycation,” you can implement some of these strategies to include more YOU time into your busy on-the-go schedule. We are inspired by these 3 tips from Jessica Sager:

    1. Have weekly rituals.
There’s a reason Taco Tuesday is so popular: It makes people happy! How you spend that time, whether it’s reading a
