The SECDEF’s Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (DACODAI) in-person Public Meeting was supposed to be today and tomorrow in Arlington VA. The members of this advisory group – mostly retired senior military officers — all have the same views (which are pro) about promoting and pushing the Marxist-based DEI agenda in the military. Over 17 people, including myself, a Board of Advisors member, from Stand Together Against Racism and Radicalism in the Services (STARRS) and other organizations we work closely with made airline and hotel reservations to attend from all over the country and even fly in internationally. These groups represent all those who are concerned about the damaging effects the DEI agenda is having on the military, making it weak. We had early on requested that three STARRS leaders be able to make short oral statements (per what is stated in the Federal Register) during the public comments segment of the meeting, but on 18 April, we were informed by DACODAI that they were not allowing oral statements and did not give a reason why they contradicted what was stated in the Federal Register. But wait, that is not the only change DACODAI made to the meeting, this past Monday afternoon they notified us that the meeting would be virtual only. Denying us the opportunity to speak and to attend in-person as planned. After the last DACODAI meeting in December, DACODAI Chair Gen. Lester Lyles wanted to have an informal discussion via Zoom with members of his committee and STARRS. The DACODAI Federal Officer shut this down. It appears “diversity of thought” so often touted by DoD is actually not in fact valued and being “inclusive” to all actually means only to those who believe one side of the issue. The committee itself all has the same one-thought bias regarding pushing DEI in the military with no diverse thought. Our Republican House of Representatives has once again ignored the will of the majority of its voters by passing more than $60 billion dollars in more Ukraine aid, placing inappropriate priority over its border instead of protecting our own, paying its government employees and pensions while we have tens of thousands of homeless veterans on our streets, and throwing money down a rat hole in a war that is not only unwinnable, but not in America’s vital national interest. We are destroying our own and NATO’s credibility while the rest if the world is in flames, threatening our true vital national interests, Israel, and Taiwan. Congress’s power of the purse is only powerful, and it is, if it has the courage to use it to set national defense priorities and end strategies that damage our national defense, our economy, and our culture. Candidates are running in primaries around the country to challenge the big spending, pro endless war policy, out of control Republicans and none is a better example than what is happening in Nebraska’s second congressional district where Dan Frei is challenging Don Bacon. Voter rolls are the foundational and critical data to successful election integrity efforts. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is the latest social movement being imbedded in our culture and imprinted on our corporate identity. DEI is viewed negatively by a significant majority of individuals across society, creates inequalities in the workforce, and has failed to deliver any measurable Return on Investment. In the military it is increasingly being viewed as an infection that destroys team cohesiveness, hurts recruiting, distracts from training for the combat mission and more important issues such as suicide rates and sexual assault prevention. Not surprisingly, organizations in the services are trying to mitigate the damage and find pathways back to a unit focus on the combat mission and addressing recruiting, suicide, and sexual assault among other concerns. Over the weekend we witnessed Republican Speaker Mike Johnson pass more than $60 billion in more aid to Ukraine without a majority of votes from his own party, even more than we spend every year on our entire Marine Corps, as Senator Paul said. What is the cause in Ukraine though? That is the driving question behind opposition to sending more billions from America to Ukraine. We have asked for and not been told what the desired end state is for the war effort. Is it Ukraine taking all of its lost territory? Does that include Crimea? Unfortunately, all you ever hear from the endless war politicians is that we’re degrading Russia on the cheap! Yes, as disgusting as that is, they actually say it. The other phrase we hear a lot, and did this weekend on the US House of Representatives floor is “we will defend Ukraine at all costs” and no one ever explains it because what that means is that we will fight until the last Ukrainian is dead, and then we’ll throw American kids into the meatgrinder in this totally unnecessary war. Hundreds of thousands dead and more to come now that the war will grind on for a few more months with this new aid package.
