    Why can’t you say NO

    Is It’s a form of validation, we don’t want to let someone down.

    Are you flirting with pleasing an idol?

    • Money
    • Fame - known (Status)
    • Lust - Strong desire for something
    • Power
    • Success

      • Signs that you NEED to say NO to something: 

      1. You are overwhelmed, overworked and TIRED 
      2. You are missing out on the possibility of a God-ordained yes 
      3. You are taking the opportunity away from someone who can serve them better 

        4. How do I learn to say No Practically?

        1. Refer someone else for the opportunity 
        2. CLARITY- Get clear on what God has called me to, what does that look like sitting still. In your quiet time and journaling what he has asked you to do. Listen to What is my Spiritual Brand. Anything that doesn’t align with that vision you say NO to it. 
        3. It’s never answering someone right away giving yourself time to pray and process the request. 
        4. Don’t ignore the lack of peace
        5. Schedule a time that you would engage in certain activities and set boundaries that allow people to only book you during that time.

          What is your Goliath and what has God equipped you with. If you don’t know then you have to take a stalk of the Root.

          3. Spend time with you and God- I spend time alone so that I can have talks with God. What does this look like? I run every morning listening to a podcast. I take walks on the beach. I talk to God in the car. I read daily, spiritual books.

            What is a Spiritual Brand? Your spiritual Brand is the Abilities/ Talents, Personality, and Spiritual Gifts that Christ has blessed you with

            Romans 12:6-8

            Brand - It’s what sets you apart from everyone Else

            A brand is an identifying symbol, mark, logo, name, word, and/or sentence that companies use to distinguish their product from others

            Genesis 1:27 - God created us in his own image male and female.

            • God is a Spiritual Being
            • We were made to look like him, spiritually
            • So what essence of his spirit did he call you specifically to reflect on earth?

              • That’s what we are going to talk about today

              Why not call it your purpose - I believe our purpose on earth is to bring others to Christ. 

              So how do we discover or unlock our Spiritual Brand? 

              1. It’s already in You - Exodus 31: 3-6 Study yourself become a Master student of yourself.

              2. It won’t look EXACTLY like anyone else - Romans 12:4-5

              3. Marry the Vision but date the vehicle that will take you there.

              Purpose: Bring others to Christ

              Spiritual Gifts: Teaching, Encouraging

              Skills: Write, To Speak, Act, Produce 

              Tools and Platforms: Podcast, Books, Playwright, Film, Classroom, Boardroom, Sermons 

              What do I enjoy - Learning, Artistic Expression, Music,

              Rick Warren said studies revealed we have 500-700 different skills and abilities Far more than you recognize

              God wants us to grow Spiritually, Personally, and Professionally

              But first, we have to deal with Foundation

              Who are you at your core?

              At your core why do you say God is Lord over your life? Why have you decided that this is going to be your way of life? Why is nothing more important than your relationship with God?

              How do you know if you really LOVE God?

              Do you have an:

              Awareness of God

              Knowledge of God

              Form of Godliness

              Are we so familiar we take it for granted?

              “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

              John 3:16

              1. Are you willing to GIVE up Everything?

              2. Do you know God loves you or do you BELIEVE it? 

              He Knew

              “After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”

              John 3:2

              He Believed

              “With him came Nicodemus, the man who had come to Jesus at night. He brought about seventy-five pounds of perfumed ointment made from myrrh and aloes.”

              3. Do you love God with eternity in mind? 

              Am I more concerned about my

              Career

              Fame

              Money

              Beauty

              Health

              Having a family

              Am I focused on earthly desires or do I love God because no matter what I go through, I'm always focused on eternity. 

              If we are going to LOVE God the way he loves us we must remember that His thoughts are not our thoughts, we have to be willing to GIVE, BELIEVE and LOVE him with ETERNITY in mind!

            • GOALD- Tried By Fire

              Today we had our second guest and first international guest: Cody Byrns. 

              Cody's team connected with us due to our similar interest and after a virtual meeting, we both thought it would be awesome to share our stories on each other's podcasts. Therefore I couldn't think of a better way to conclude our series GOALD. Today we get to have a talk with a man of God who has literally been tried by Fire. 

              In 2013, Cody experienced a terrible car accident where he was considered dead until first responders saw his hand move. He had multiple injuries and 40% of his body was completely burned, after years of surgeries and rehabilitation Cody chose to transform his experience to help others maximize their potential by finding a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

              Today we dive a little deeper into Cody's story where he shares how he overcame insecurities, how his faith served as a foundation when his world came crashing down and how his community and FAITH in God helped him to overcome. 

              Cody drops so many nuggets of wisdom in this episode, but the one we definitely had to share was the acronym for EPIC!

            • GOALD - Fast Connections

              Fasting draws us closer to God and helps us to become more like Christ

              God encourages us to Fast so that we can also hear Him more clearly. Denying ourselves of something in order to become closer to Him and who he is calling us to be! 

              1. Hear him more clearly
              2. Grow in intimacy
              3. Grow in Trust

                4. So in this episode, we asked ourselves 4 questions:

                1. When should I fast ?- Whenever God is leading you. If you are seeking clarity on an issue. If you are believing God for something and he is instructed you to hear from him. 
                2. Why Do we fast? - A fast is designed to help us to hear from God, not to change God’s mind 
                3. What should you Fast ?- whatever God is directing only liquids, Food, it can be other things. I gave up Social Media several times. It forced me more into communion with God - Football and Miss Grand Bahama
                4. How does Fasting change your life?

                  “God gave these four young men an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom. And God gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.”

                  God gave them confidence through their close connection with God. When they were faced trials and fires they were able to get their strength from God.

                  4. GOALD - Run to the Father

                    In our efforts to real our GOAL of being purified like GOLD, we tend to do go through periods of feeling overwhelmed, tired, and frustrated. In those situations, it's so important to Run to the Father, especially when that wearyness is being birthed our of us trying to please God with works instead of our heart. 

                    In Luke 10: 38 - 42

                    The story of Martha and Mary welcoming Jesus into their home, we see that Jesus said that Mary made the better choice by choosing not to work and sit at his feet. 

                    Today we ask the question: 

                    Are you Mary or Martha? 

                    In this episode we go through three questions you can ask yourself to see exactly where you fall. 

                    1.  Am I living for an Audience of One? 

                    Am I Consistently checking  my heart “A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.” Proverbs 21:2 NIV

                    2. Am I Comparing my Journey to others? 

                    3. Am I’m serving more than I’m sitting?

                  5. GOALD - Fighting Temptations

                    How do we fight off the temptations that try to distract us from achieving our GOAL of becoming more like Christ (Gold)?

                    We know it's not as easy as it sounds, as Samson was called to be a Judge in Israel, yet over and over he allowed temptations to rule his life.

                    Here are 3 ways we can FIGHT our temptations:

                    1. Guard your Gates - Watch what you allow your eyes and ears to be exposed to

                      2. Matthew 6:24

                      "The eye is the lamp of the body. You draw light into your body through your eyes, and light shines out to the world through your eyes. So if your eye is well and shows you what is true, then your whole body will be filled with light. 23 But if your eye is clouded or evil, then your body will be filled with evil and dark clouds. And the darkness that takes over the body of a child of God who has gone astray—that is the deepest, darkest darkness there is"

                      1. Guard your Heart/ Mind - The Amount of time you invest in someone or something

                        2. Ecclesiastes 5:7

                        “Talk is cheap, like daydreams and other useless activities. Fear God instead.”

                        2nd Corinthians 10:5

                        And we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

                        1. Guard your Steps- Set up Boundaries

                          2. Psalms 37:23

                          “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”

                              1. Be Quick to listen and slow to speak - Practically when I hear a song, a word or a Teaching allow that word to edify my spirit (James 1:19)
                              2. Before you make a decision. Ask will this gain God’s approval of the approval of man?
                              3. See every victory as a gift, not a reward
