    Do you really know what God has promised you in his word, versus what culture has made Christians believe is promised to us? 

    The below are NOT Promises of God

    Wealth and Prosperity

    If Jesus said it is harder for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God (Matthew 19:24), why on earth would He give us what would make us much less likely to surrender to Him?

    A husband or Wife for Life

    “No good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11). But remember, His idea of what is good for you may not necessarily be the same as your idea of what is good for you

    A trouble free life

    John 16:33

    33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.(A) In this world you will have trouble.(B) But take heart! I have overcome(C) the world

    Happily Ever After on Earth

    10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life,(A) and have it to the full.(B

    Our eternal life is in heaven. On earth we live with the consequences of sin, aging, disease, addictions, death, poor choices, betrayal from others, and so on. And thus, we experience pain, loss, illness, death, disappointment, divorce, abuse, and other heartbreaking situations.

    "For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:6

    In the book All the Promises of the Bible, the author Herbert Locklear found 7,147 promises from God to man in the Bible.

    Below are 4 promises of God! 

    God can be trusted — Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

    God will give you wisdom –James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

    God’s presence brings joy — Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

    God loves me deeply, no matter what. — Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord

  • The Secret Place: How to hear the Voice of God
    Have you ever struggled to hear the voice of God? Do you go back and forth wondering if the voice is actually God or if it's you? 

    In this episode I shared about times I thought it was God and I was wrong, times when I didn't even ask God but at the last minute he did what was best and then I share about three different times I heard God and How I knew it was him. 

    In this episode we explore 3 different ways we can know it's God speaking to us:

    My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me John 10: 27

    1. First step is to empty your desires & agenda

    2. Study to see if there is actual scripture to back up what you are concerned about. 

    Below are well meaning statements that are based on scriptures but are not actual scriptures. So we really have to hide God's word in our heart so that we ensure we are open to what he wants to do in our life. 

    • Cleanliness is next to godliness
    • Money is the root of all evil - The love of money Isaiah 55: 8-9
    • God works in mysterious ways. - difficult or impossible to understand, explain, or identify.
    • God will not give you more than you can handle

      • 3. The final test is that there will be peace

      Amos 3:3 - How can two walk together unless they agree. Unless you to surrender to how God is doing things in your life

      Honesty

      Authentic

      Trust

      Constant

      How do I grow in intimacy with God?

      1. Stop being tied to a result
      2. Stop holding back something from God - An area He wants to bless
      3. Make the time for God

        4. Reasons we don’t seek intimacy more

        1. We think we know better - Pride
        2. We are afraid he will give us opposite of what we want
        3. God just wants to punish us.

          Bamboo Tree

          A Chinese bamboo tree takes five years to grow. It has to be watered and fertilized in the ground where it has been planted every day. It doesn't break through the ground for five years. After five years, once it breaks through the ground, it will grow 90 feet tall in five weeks!

            Rejection

            1. Rejection is God’s protection from something you weren’t strong enough to say No to

            2. Rejection is redirection into The opportunity Purposely Designed for you. - Joseph

            3. Rejection sometimes prevents an ungodly connection

            When God wants to bless you He sends someone into your life
            When the enemy want to destroy you or distract you He sends someone into your life

            Have you been so anxious for what you wanted that you missed out on what God was trying to do?

            “One day when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau arrived home from the wilderness exhausted and hungry. Esau said to Jacob, “I’m starved! Give me some of that red stew!” (This is how Esau got his other name, Edom, which means “red.”) “All right,” Jacob replied, “but trade me your rights as the firstborn son.” “Look, I’m dying of starvation!” said Esau. “What good is my birthright to me now?” But Jacob said, “First you must swear that your birthright is mine.” So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate the meal, then got up and left. He showed contempt for his rights as the firstborn.”

              4. Seek Ye First - Humble Yourself!

                Today we are addressing how pride stops you from receiving all the blessings God has for you! 

                Do you trust or believe in the power of God to change your situation or someone else's? Or do you believe and trust in yourself more?

                For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted

                Matthew 23:12

                What's wrong with receiving respect or recognition as a teacher, preacher or leader?  

                "For him that is taught in the word to give respect to him that teaches, is commendable; but for him that teaches, to demand it, to be puffed up with it, is sinful"

                1. Heart Posture - What’s your motive to teach or correct - Or to show Grace?
                2. Relationship or Religion - What’s the goal? - At the end of the day do you want people to understand Relationship  or Religion. If you want someone to suffer consequences if you want them to be punished, you are following religion - We have to remember we’re not in charge of conversion, we're in charge of planting the seed.
                3. Obedience and Good Works are not the same - Do you trust God’s favor on your life?

                  How many times have you lost Hope in a certain desire or expectation coming to past? My question to you is, was your hope grounded in God or was it based on YOUR WILL, YOUR TIMELINE or YOUR WAY of this desire or expectation manifesting it self? Just because it's a promise from God, doesn't mean that you have placed your hope in Him. It's so easy for us to hear a promise and run with it! 

                  Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

                  However when you truly seek God first, You are filled with the right kind of Hope!

                  4. Seek Ye First - Get Your Joy Back

                    Having joy includes feeling good cheer and a vibrant happiness. But joy, in its fuller, spiritual meaning of expressing God's goodness, involves more. It is a deep-rooted, inspired happiness

                    Inspired means it doesn’t just happen.

                    Inspire means to excite, encourage, or breathe life into. Inspire comes from the Latin word that means to inflame or to blow in to. When you inspire something, it is as if you are blowing air over a low flame to make it grow

                    The term happiness comes from the Old Norse term happ meaning “luck” or “chance.”,

                    “Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”

                    ‭‭James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬

                    Happiness depends on a situation Joy is a choice and it internal. The world didn’t give and the world can take it away

                    The Joy of the Lord is my strength. So the gift or that moment may contribute to your happiness but it can’t be your source.

                    “And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!””

                    ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭8:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

                    Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, James 1:2

                    Sometimes God doesn’t change your situation because he’s what he’s really trying to change is the way you look at it.
