If you know SueAnn Graeber, then you know the deeply joyful person she is. Once my second grade Sunday school teacher, and now my daughter’s, I’ve known SueAnn for a long time. She always has a smile on her face and she is a steady presence in so many people’s lives. What you may not realize is the endurance, perseverance, and faith it has taken to keep that level of joy. In her story, you will hear the reason SueAnn’s joy is so unshakeable is because in so many earth-shattering circumstances, she chose faith in her God. Over and over again, SueAnn chose to put her trust and faith in the God who is still doing miracles today, and her story showcases that in a million different ways. What strikes me the most about SueAnn’s story is that not only is it miracle upon miracle despite the devastation and hardship she’s walked through, but the fact that she didn’t miss it. She hasn’t missed what the Lord’s done and redeemed and healed and restored in her life, because her eyes are set on the One who holds it all. I don’t know what you’re facing today, but if you need to be reminded today that He is able and He still does miracles, listen to SueAnn’s story.

Andrew and I have already had some great conversations coming from things I learned in this very conversation. This week is both a continuation of my conversation with Jessika McKaskle from last week and a really powerful stand-alone message for a strong and intentional marriage. We all bring habits, biases, and oftentimes baggage into our marriage whether we realize it or not. One of the first steps of intentionality within marriage is becoming aware of what those are. Jessika shared with us last week her journey of first realizing her struggle for control and perfection and her journey of relinquishing self-sufficiency through the grace of Jesus Christ. Highly recommend listening if you haven’t! But that is just step one when it comes to marriage. What does it look like to walk that out with our spouse? How have our patterns and brokenness affected the person we love most? In our struggles, what have we unintentionally communicated to our spouse? And more pointedly, how can we grow together and strengthen our marriages? Jessika does a fantastic job of giving some practical yet powerful actionable steps that I promise will impact your marriage.

Jessika McKaskle is on the podcast this week, and it is such a gift! If you don’t  know Jessika, she is open and honest and keeps things real. Today was no different as she shares with us her battle with control, self-sufficiency, and perfectionism. Hearing her lay it all out so boldly is such a powerful reminder for us to search our hearts on where we may be holding these very same things.  Growing up in the church and then becoming a pastor’s wife as well as a mother, Jessika’s story lays out such a clear picture of why we may be struggling with these very things and yet the beautiful, amazing truth of God’s grace that we can choose to live in. 

You will hear us talk about how these things pertain to marriage, but because we ended up with basically two distinct and powerful messages, we’ve chosen to share her story in Part 1 and Part 2. This week will camp on Jessika’s background with these topics as we went into marriage, ministry, and motherhood, but next week we will dive deeper into how she and Jordy learned to uproot some of these patterns within their marriage. I can’t wait to share it with you!

You have asked for Terry Slawson, and we listened! Today’s conversation was my first time meeting Terry, and you guys were not lying. It is. so. good. Every minute is so needed. Terry shares how he came to know Christ, what it looked like to follow Him– even in a later call to ministry that eventually led him to begin Seeker Springs with his late wife Tammie. Terry also shares with us Tammie’s battle with cancer and his own personal walk through devastating loss. We talk about what it looked like for him to truly seek the Lord in every single one of those chapters– in the very beginning and in the unspeakable grief. We also talk about steadfastness and what it means to truly walk that out. Terry’s story illustrates the importance of prayer and community and highlights God’s provision in his children and grandchildren. Today’s conversation even shares how Terry met Jill, his wife, and the graciousness of God bringing them together after walking similar roads of losing a spouse to cancer. Yall, he’s just a real one,  you’re just going to love him. I can’t wait to share it with you.

Jesus told us in this life we have troubles, but we don’t always know how to navigate when those come. Maybe we know the right way to operate, but what do we do with how we feel? Today on the podcast, Lindsay and I are diving deep into the topic of what might be passivity in our feelings with God and how true surrender often comes with a fight. In this episode, you’ll hear us discuss the reasons we may not want to be honest with ourselves and others– and lastly but most importantly, with God. You’ll also hear some markers that could indicate places we may be operating with more passivity than true obedience. We also search through the two biggest markers of authentic surrender: honesty and humility. In all of these, Lindsay and I share some vulnerable lessons the Lord has taught us in wrestling with Him over His provision in the times it didn’t look the way we wanted. He is such a good Shepherd, and He truly can handle our questions and doubts. We hope you enjoy this conversation and that you feel seen in the wrestle, because you are not alone!

Back on the podcast today is your favorite co-host, Lindsay Stagg, and we are going deep into the topic of prayer. I don’t know if yall are feeling this same thing, but we keep meeting the conviction to pray. Whether it’s bold prayers, prayers of thanksgiving, or just praying continuously, we feel the Lord calling us to pray. So today, we’re talking about just that: prayer. But the question that kept coming up in our conversation was: why aren’t we praying? What we found in chasing down that question were some really vulnerable and honest confessions. We share stories of answered prayer, times of desperate prayers, and also some places where we still haven’t seen the answers yet. This conversation is probably the most I’ve ever been out of my comfort zone on the Saltworks, but after much prayer, we feel led to share it, and we continue to pray that it meets you where you are.
