  • Finding Her Way In the Welsh Wind (with Gin!), Ellen Wakelam

    Let the episode be gin!

This week, I'm speaking with Ellen Wakelam. Ellen was a teacher, but after becoming disillusioned with the role -- and reeeeeally long walk -- she and her partner started In the Welsh Wind, a distillery firmly based in her native Wales. I love this episode, almost as much as I love In the Welsh Wind's (seriously)tasty gin. Ellen was so great to chat with - tune in and you'll even learn a few things about distilling and Wales!

Ellen and her team have kindly offered an exclusive discount for TSC listeners on their fantastic gins and spirits - listen for details!

  • Surfing the Fringe with Actor/Writer, Erin Hunter

When's the last time you learned a new sport? Moved to a new country? Wrote your own solo show?

This week, I'm speaking with Erin Hunter. Although Erin has acted her entire life, she wrote her first solo show after 35 (in a new country, while learning to surf). And I'm so excited to announce that I'll be producing her show for the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

In this episode, Erin and I talk about ageing as a female actor, her brilliantly funny show, which she wrote and performs in, Surfing the Holyland, and she even puts me in the hot seat to talk about my work producing female-led shows for Slackline Productions.

Linda, who we refer to in the podcast, is the amazing Linda Jane Butler. You can see Erin perform in Linda's written and rehearsed in a day play, Grand Theft Post-Mortem, here! And for more on Linda https://filmfreeway.com/LINDAJANEBUTLER

*"Platty Joobs" was coined by Kiell Smith-Bynoe. My apologies for calling him "Kiell Whatever His Name Is". He's a comedy genius. I probably owe him at least £50.

  • Building a Sweeter Life, Cake Artist Katalin (Kate) Brindley

Kate Brindley started out as a mechanical engineer in her native Hungary, quickly realising an office life wasn’t for her.

This week's episode is short but sweet! I’m speaking with cake artist, Katalin (Kate) Brindley.

Since moving to the UK, Kate has had stints as a PA and found a career she loved in massage therapy. But it was a Christmas gift from her husband that reminded her how much she loved caking.

Now at 40, she’s an award-winning cake artist and has never before felt so much passion for her work.

  • The Creative Force Within Us with Survivor and Thriver, Kyra Coates

Kyra Coates was born with a creative force inside of her.

CW: Before we get started, I’d like to mention that this episode carries a content warning for trauma and sexual assault. Don’t worry, we don’t go into too much detail, but I wanted to give you a heads up.

Kyra’s early story led to an early adulthood filled with shame and denial. Realization, empowerment, and freedom led Kyra to realise that she is more than her trauma and to embrace her feminine power and sexuality.

After a profound spiritual awakening in her early twenties, Kyra became a Hindu nun and lived a disciplined monastic life for three years. When she left her robes behind, she dove into sexual awakening, motherhood, and embracing her feminine strength.

Finding her true calling at 35, Kyra returned to the art world professionally in 2014 and expresses her years of spiritual and psychological study through her art and now, her writing.
