Welcome to this week’s episode of The Second of Strength Podcast. Today’s episode dives into something I call “digital atrophy”. The premise that some of our most important skills as people are declining due to our digital appetites.
A few years ago after rupturing my Achilles I witnessed just how drastic muscle atrophy is and how quickly it takes place. The way back was painful and time consuming. It took months of rehab to get most of the way back to the person – or athlete – I was before.
I believe we are experiencing a similar atrophy in certain areas of our life due to the amount of time we are spending on devices. Focus, attention span, creativity, and social skills are a few key areas that are being proven, through research, to be diminishing.
Today’s episode talks about the various studies showing the “atrophy” in these areas. We’ll finish by talking about key strategies to overcome this in our lives.
