I got a lot of amazing messages from other business owners telling me how they handle things when their OFS gets sick. I'm going to share some of those messages with you today.

The term VA (virtual assistant) has bugged me for a long time. The term assistant implies that when you hire a VA, you're hiring someone unskilled. That they can only do data entry and other menial tasks.
That's not who you want to hire. That's not who you're getting when you hire from the Philippines. When you hire someone from Onlinejobs.ph, you're hiring an OFS, an online Filipino specialist.
Let's talk about that.

It's been a while since anyone from my OFS team asked for maternity or paternity leave. So for most of this episode, I'll read what Julia wrote about it because she knows this topic really well. I will interject every once in a while to give you my thoughts,  share my experience with it, and explain why you don't have to worry about maternity and paternity leave.

I receive around 40 daily reports from my OFS team every day. I can't respond to all of them, but I read them all. 
The habit of sending a daily report is really important because:
- It lets me know if they're working and progressing. 
- It gives them a chance to ask me questions. 
- It's proof of their accountability.
Let's talk about that.

Trust is the number one question I get asked. How do I find someone I can trust?
It's understandable not to trust something unfamiliar. But Filipino workers, over the years, have proven to be very trustworthy. 
A lot of that has to do with the culture there. They want you to trust them, and they want to do great work because they want to keep working. They want to keep a job that pays well to continue providing for their families.

Never pre-pay for work, especially with a new OFS. 
Don't pay for their internet or laptop or medical expenses.
An OFS asking you to prepay for work is a big red flag.

Saving face is a defense mechanism that some OFS use when they make mistakes. It's a cultural thing that can cause them to work mindlessly, and I've encountered this for years with my own team.
