His passion for both of his careers comes through in our conversation. How can nurses make that same leap he did? What creates balance when you do? In what ways does finding something beyond the bedside help your work in the hospital? We hit all these questions and more, check it out!

Can pole dancing be an effective stress relief activity for nurses? Carley and Sarah took pole dancing classes this week, and now they can report the fantastic results!
They start by talking through their stress and emotional states before the class. They definitely had some nerves going into this! Then, they both share the incredible sense of freedom and fun they felt during and afterward. They were treated to such kindness and camaraderie by their instructors and classmates, and it left them feeling rejuvenated and wanting to go again! It's not often you hear such rave reviews, but we're thrilled to say, if you have the opportunity and classes nearby, pole dancing is worth a try!
This week on the Self Care Unit, Carley and Sarah learn all about Ergonomics from our guest, Dr. Spencer Lalk! Dr. Lalk is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, outdoor enthusiast, and world explorer, who helps his patients to manage pain and find the best practices to treat it. We talk with him about chronic pain, how it first manifests in the body, common mistakes people make in the effort to improve their situation, and what changes work! If you're like us, you had a cursory idea of Ergonomics, but Dr. Lalk helped us to more fully understand it. A big thank you to Dr. Lalk for joining us!
