If you've struggled with watching pornography, you know the horrible feeling that sets in after watching it again when you've promised yourself you wouldn't. Why did you watch it again? After all the promises to stop, how are you back here now?
Maybe you've even invested money in filters or have a trusted mentor/Mashpia you speak to about this, but still, despite all of your efforts, you are back to watching porn - again.
When demoralization sets in and all we can think about is how inadequate we are, we make a commitment, this time more firm than any of the others, to never watch again. Perhaps the promise is matched with additional barriers or even support groups to help you in this process. Now, we have a commitment to do things differently and actions we are taking to move us in the right direction.
But, is this approach helpful?
Do commitments to do something differently built on a foundation of shame and demoralization work? Are they lasting? Can and do they stand the test of time?
Or, is there another way to overcome the most common struggle amongst men, and even many women, in the world today?
In the episode, Eli is Joined by the renowned lecturer, author, and scholar, Rabbi YY Jacobson as they explore what works and doesn't work when one sets his mind to living a porn-free life.
