Travis King, the US Army private who defected to North Korea in July, has been officially accused of desertion and a range of other offenses, as per a CNN report on Thursday citing a charging document.

Upon his recent return to the United States after being released from North Korean custody, King now faces charges related to possession of child pornography, assaulting fellow soldiers, and insubordination towards a superior officer. In total, he has been charged with eight counts.

Sources confirm that the 23-year-old King was apprehended on Wednesday at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and is presently held in pre-trial detention.

In a filing on Thursday, federal prosecutors emphasized that Donald Trump is not exempt from legal accountability, asserting that he is "not above the law." They urged U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan to reject the former president's attempt to have the case, charging him with plotting to overturn the 2020 presidential election, dismissed. Trump's legal team had argued earlier this month that he should be immune from prosecution for actions taken while in office.

Bryden Williams was found guilty in 2009 of the 2006 murder of Joel Whitley after an argument over a cell phone at a party. He is currently serving a 50-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison and will not be eligible for release until April 2051 when he will be 78 years old. Despite his attempts to appeal his conviction, claiming that his attorney fell asleep during the trial, the courts upheld his sentence, finding the attorney's inattentiveness to be at most, fleetingly inattentive. This is his story.
