    • Having friends of the opposite sex can indicate a person's ability to trust themselves around members of the opposite sex without sexualizing them.
    • It is imperative to have open and honest discussions about boundaries and expectations in ALL relationships
    • Someone's romantic feelings for you is none of your business. Once you have been explicit with your boundaries and desires, their feelings are theirs to figure out.
    • Your partner will never meet all of your needs. They aren't supposed to.
    • Don't miss out on really special, magical and aware people, who could teach you so many wonderful things and share such good times with you, simply because they have opposite sex organs than you.
    • Questions to consider: 1) How would your life be different if you had friends of the opposite sex? What would open up for you? 2) Can you make/hold boundaries with yourself? 3) Can you make sure that when you say you don't want to be romantic with someone that your energy doesn't show something different?

    Too Long, Didn’t Listen (TLDL):

    • There are many aspects of our lives to consider when thinking about success (Career, Health, Relationships, Community)
    • YOU are the person who defines success for yourself - outside of societal standards, family expectations, pressure from friends, religion, and more, so consider this: If you were on a deserted island, with no one else around, what choices would you make?
    • It's important to recognize, acknowledge, and celebrate the successes you already have in your life in real time. (Are you celebrating the success you have? Are you celebrating how far you've come?)
    • Take a moment, sit, and look at some of those categories then journal: What is success for me? What does success look like for me? What does success feel like?

    • Your partner does not belong to you. They are not an extension of you. You are you.
    • Would you do things differently in your relationship if you truly believed there was a possibility of it ending?
    • We often treat our friends better than we treat our partner because we have less expectations of them to change for us.
    • It's important to differentiate between feeling safe to express oneself authentically (which is positive) and "feeling safe" that our partner won't leave us resulting in neglect of the relationship
    • In order to truly love someone, allow them to have a full life, rich with experiences, and opportunities to discover and express their truest selves.
