To build your business and brand, you need to launch. Launching is the foundation of my multiple 7-figure business, and I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't learned how to launch.
Because launching is such an important part of any online business, I invited Marisa Schmid as my guest on the Sigrun Show today. Marisa is in my VIP Mastermind program and recently did her first proper launch - with spectacular results!
564 people signed up to her launch webinar and she thought that about a third would actually show up. She was quite happy with that number, but when the day of her webinar came, 484 people showed up for it. It came as a complete surprise to her. Average show up rates to a webinar are between 20-30%. Marisa had a show up rate of 80%.
When she did her sales presentation towards the end of her webinar, she still had about 95% of the people listening to her. Then, so many people wanted to buy her offer that her site crashed.
Marisa ended up having a conversion rate of 40% and made €43K - in the middle of April, while the pandemic was peaking in Europe.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Marisa shares her launch story and talks about what she did to keep her audience engaged until the end of her webinar and how presenting her offer didn't feel like selling at all. We also reflect on what she can do differently the next time she launches.
If you're planning on launching yourself, don't miss this conversation with Marisa. It contains so much valuable information about launching and might help you with your own launch.
"I'm so sure about what I'm offering that I don't think I'm actually selling, but I'm sharing something great."- Marisa Schmid

Using YouTube Ads in Your Launch
The number of sign ups Marisa got for her webinar and especially the amount of people who showed up for it is extraordinary.
Marisa had announced her webinar to her email list, on her Facebook page and through her YouTube channel, but she didn't stop there. She also ran ads, both on Facebook and YouTube.
Especially her ad on YouTube led to many sign ups. As she was preparing for her webinar, she thought about the short ads that always run before the start of her own videos. If there were ads in front of her videos, wouldn't she be able to place her own ads in front of other people's videos, too?
After some research, Marisa found out that she could do just that, and more: She could choose the specific channels she wanted her ads to appear on. She started researching channels of people who were in the same niche as her and set up her ad - an authentic, 45 second video she recorded in her own garden. By selecting the right channels, she was able to immediately target people who were already interested in what she was talking about and had to offer. As a result, her sign-ups went through the roof.

Haile Thomas is the youngest person to ever appear on the Sigrun Show, and she has an inspiring story to tell.
At only 19 years old, she is an international speaker, activist and CEO of her own non-profit HAPPY, which she founded when she was 12. She has been featured on TV and highlighted in publications like O Magazine and Teen Vogue.
Her journey started when she was a very young child and her parents welcomed her to joining conversations they had with other adults instead of sending her away to play. It made her very secure at an early age.
When Haile's father was diagnosed with diabetes and the medications he had to take caused severe side effects, her family started looking for alternative treatments. Haile was fully involved in the process of healing her dad and in the process learned about the power of healthy nutrition and coming together as a community for a cause. In the end, her family was able to reverse the condition of her father without the use of medication.
Haile felt so inspired, but was also increasingly shocked that children aren't learning more about leading a healthy life. She made it her mission to motivate and empower young people to prioritize self-care and pursue healthy and purpose filled lives, impacting thousands in the process.
"When you follow that intention and purpose behind what you're doing, all else that you need follows suit."- Haile Thomas
Speaker at the Selfmade Summit
I came across Haile when I was planning the Selfmade Summit in Iceland. It would have been this year, but because of the ongoing pandemic I postponed it to June 2021. I had most of my speakers lined up, but I wanted to also have someone speak on stage who was younger. Haile was recommended to me by other entrepreneurs, and when I checked out her website, I knew she was the one.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, she talks about the moment she became an activist, the time she worked with Michelle Obama and how this year has affected her work so far. She also introduces her new book Living Lively.
If you want to be inspired by a young woman who has achieved incredible things at a very young age, lean back and hit play.
What you will get out of this episode:
Do you want to know more about speaking up and making yourself heard? Learn how to speak your mind even if your voice shakes.
The Incredible Journey of Haile Thomas
When Haile was a child, her father was diagnosed with diabetes. The medication he had to take caused severe side effects, and the family thought of alternative ways to treat him, including a healthier nutrition. They were able to reverse his condition, and Haile felt so inspired that she wanted to do more to promote wellbeing and healthy living.
She joined the youth advisory board for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a non-profit in the US. It was the first step in what would become an unique journey.
Haile underwent extensive training, was taught what was going on in the world and what she could do to help her community. The organisation saw her potential for public speaking, and at the age of 10, Haile had her first speaking engagement at a big health conference in Washington D.C.
She was speaking in front of corporate leaders, people from the health and wellness industry, chefs she had always admired on TV, and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
After the event, Haile was approached by representatives of hotels who liked the idea of children being involved in their own wellbeing so much that they wanted her to revise their kid's menu which was being served across the country and in the Caribbean.
It was this partnership that got the media's attention. Haile spoke on national TV, was invited to podcasts and interviewed by local news stations. She attended big events and met high-profile people, but she started to realise that she was losing the ability to really make an impact in the way she originally intended to.
Book release of Living Lively and Keynote Speaker at the Selfmade Summit
Together with her mother, she started brainstorming about how she could be more community centred and came up with the idea to create a non-profit where she could talk to children and educate her peers.
Even though she had a lot of knowledge, she felt she needed to get an external certification in order to validate her before others. However, what really drove her was the desire to learn as much as she possibly could in the field. She attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and was the youngest to graduate as a nutrition health coach. She was 16 years old at the time.
More confident with her education and ability to speak, Haile was able to infuse her expertise into her non-profit HAPPY. Her work today includes talking about nutrition and cooking, but also mental health and self-care.
Her most recent step is the release of her book Living Lively. She was collecting ideas for years, and has now combined the topics of self-growth and wellness with nutrition. "It feels like a human 101 guide from the perspective of a young person - that's exactly what Living Lively is."
We can doubtlessly expect many more great things from Haile, and I'm proud she will be attending the Selfmade Summit in Iceland next year as a keynote speaker.

Ten years ago, Merel was an opera singer, performing on big stages across Europe. However, the little pay she received left her frustrated and together with her husband, who was a singer like her, they decided to quit and generate their income in another way.
Merel wanted to do something that would educate her as well as support her family, and chose to set up a business as a copywriter. This allowed her and her husband to live wherever they wanted, and they took over her husband's parents' 180 acre farm in the Canadian countryside, while both working on Merel's copywriting business.
But then, Merel helped a couple of her clients with their launches and they didn't convert. She didn't doubt her copy writing skills, but she realised that there was so much more involved in marketing and selling an offer than just copy.
It drove her to look deeper into offer-creation, pricing sweet-spots, mindset and high-ticket lead-generation. As it turned out, she was great at it, and as she applied her knowledge, her clients were increasingly experiencing success. Today, helping women have this breakthrough and giving them the courage to charge what they are worth has become her speciality.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Merel talks about what defines a high-end offer, what you should consider when putting your offer out there and how you can shift your clients when you start charging more.
This episode is for you if you want to start attracting high-end clients or if you already have a high-end offer but are not sure how to find your ideal clients.
"If you're in your zone of genius, clients will flock to you if you're putting yourself out there."- Merel Kriegsman
What you will get out of this episode:
Are you looking for more information around high-end offers? Find out how to use a challenge to sell you high-end program.
Selling Your High-End Offer to the Right Client
If you consider running a high-end program, the key is to add a lot of personal attention into it. People won't pay a high-end price if the entire program is pre-recorded. What attracts high-end clients is an individual, customised experience where they get direct value from your expertise. Introducing hot-seats, discussions and Q&A's helps provide a unique experience, as well as getting to know the people in your program, check in on them and focus on being there for them.
But once people have designed their high-end offer, they often get stuck with selling it. Merel has created a checklist, 40+ ways to call in your high ticket clients and make them buy from you, which contains great advice on how you should enter into the selling process.
The key is: You don't find your high-end clients, they find you. You don't make them buy, they want to buy.
Shifting, Niching and Positioning
It's about shifting your messaging, niching and positioning - these are the three core things you should be thinking about before you create the content with which you want to attract high-end clients.
"A mistake many people make is that they want to serve too many different people. You can't do that when you're offering a high-end program," Merel points out. People paying a high price want a very specific expertise. That's why you have to do research on what the profitable niches are, and then be very specific about your offer and niche it down.
High-end clients won't be attracted with the same message that speaks to low-end people. It's important you know exactly who your ideal clients are in order to provide an intimate connection and a customised experience. Specific target groups have specific traits, and in order to personalise your offer, you need to go the extra mile to figure out what the things are that your ideal client really wants and needs. If your messaging is off, it will attract the wrong people to your offer.
For more great tips on attracting high-end clients, check out Merel's checklist.

What is wrong with me?
This question has haunted Valerie since she was a little girl. Whether it was being too loud, too smart, wearing the wrong clothes or eating the wrong things, something around her behaviour always seemed to be wrong. Her life's journey ended up being guided by this question, and it brought her into the field of psychology.
Two graduate degrees later, she thought she was living her dream life. She had a thriving private practice, a family and home she adored, until one day she was on the phone with a client and realised that she was only smiling with the right side of her face. The left side of her mouth was hanging down, and so was her left arm. She ended up in the ER with symptoms of a stroke. Her diagnosis: Stress. It mystified her, because she didn't feel stressed at all.
That's when Valerie realised that the question of what was wrong with her was still there - it didn't go away with everything she had accomplished. It was just numbed. And while she thought she had done everything she could to be happy and fulfilled, that's not how she felt.
She started wondering why, and looked at what she did to help her own clients shift away from their numbness, and whether she could apply that to herself too.
Even though none of them had big traumatic experiences, she used trauma resolution tools in her therapy because she saw symptoms of trauma in all of them. They were somehow disconnected from parts of themselves, their dreams and desires. That's when it hit her: Could it be that there was some trauma she was overlooking, a trauma that affects people as a collective, herself included?
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Valerie talks about how she discovered Patriarchy Stress Disorder (PSD) and how it affects women and men alike. She shares how PSD is responsible for many limiting beliefs women experience, and why now is the perfect time to heal yourself from this trauma.
Have you ever felt disconnected to your own feelings and ideas? Do you sometimes feel something is wrong with you, but you can't pin-point exactly what it is? Then this episode is a must-listen.
"Ask yourself this question: How much of what you're feeling is yours, and how much is collective?"- Dr. Valerie Rein

Morning Ritual to Counter Negative Feelings Brought by Hidden Trauma
If you feel stressed, experience anxiety or aren't sleeping well, there might be an underlying reason for these feelings that isn't immediately obvious to you. Dr. Valerie Rein uses trauma resolution tools to help her clients connect to themselves, because even though none of them had big traumatic experiences, she recognised trauma symptoms in all of them. To counter negative feelings brought forth by hidden trauma, she recommends the following exercise she does every morning.
Breathe
Every morning when you wake up, get in touch with your body and check in how you feel. Ask yourself the question: How much of what you feel is yours, and how much of it is something that affects people as a collective?
Take a deep breath, squeeze your muscles, then breathe out, letting it all drop. Repeat a few times.
Shake
Shake out your feelings. Animals shake themselves to release stress. Shake your head and your feet, and if some emotion is present, add an expression. You might feel sadness, anger or fear. Let the emotion come to your voice and face. It doesn't have to be for long, the lifespan of an emotion is 90 seconds if you allow it to express fully. Shake it all out, then tap your shoulders and legs and breathe until you feel your system settle down.
Soothe
Move over to the soothing phase and caress your arms and hands. This brings the nervous system to a deep level of relaxation and safety. You will notice the shift already as during this phase your body is producing oxytocin, which makes us feel good and helps us connect with our community.

Have you ever felt you're living your life according to what other people expect of you?
Celinne da Costa felt exactly like this when she was working a corporate job around the clock for a big agency in New York. When she was a child, she immigrated to the US from Italy and felt she had to work extra hard to achieve the American dream.
She had big expectations about who she needed to become, but when she started feeling miserable and without purpose, she realised that all this time she had worked to become a version of who others wanted her to be. She had been living other people's dreams.
Then she fell into a low. Her grandfather died, her boyfriend broke up with her on her birthday, she didn't get the promotion she expected and her rent went up by 30%. That's when she knew things had to change. Nine months later, she was on a one-way flight to Europe.
Celinne embarked on a social experiment. She challenged herself to travel the world through couch surfing, never going to a hotel but sleeping in the homes of strangers. She ended up staying with 100 people in 20 countries. The experience has brought her to where she is today.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Celinne talks about how interviewing all the people she met around the world made her discover that every single person has a story to tell. She shares how she took this insight to start her own business, helping others find out who they are and who they want to become, and creating a powerful brand story around them. Celinne also talks about how she shifted her content to align with the changing times we live in.
This episode is for you if you want to find out what the essence of a good story is, and if you want some tips on how you can pivot your content in the age of COVID.

How to Pivot Your Content Right Now
Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Celinne observed that people are mostly reactive with their content, posting and publishing it without thinking how it relates to their business and the people they're trying to serve. "It was as if everyone was running towards something, climbing on top of each other, creating a mess."
With the changing situation, it's become clear that your content needs to change to be able to speak to the needs of your audience. The best way to do that is by being proactive and showing up as a leader in your niche. Here, Celinne shares tips how you can shift your content in the age of COVID.
Come back to your bigger "why"
This is the key to creating your content. Ask yourself why your business exists, why you get out of bed in the morning, what your bigger purpose is. Dig deep within and reconnect with your vision and mission.
The needs of your audience
Once you have your "why" clear in front of you, think about what kind of content would serve your audience right now. It should be content that is still relating to your why, but also isn't blind to the events that are happening. Say focused on the bigger message you want to share and how that can benefit your audience. Stories about 100k months or going on travelling adventures were inspirational when people believed that it was possible for them, too. But right now, these big stories feel untouchable for people who are in survival mode. Make your content shift and speak to the problems people have right now.
Vulnerability
Share your challenges and struggles with your audience. Tell them you understand what they are going through because it's affecting you, too. Make them see how you're showing up during these times, and how they can deal with the situation.
Short-term comfort
A lot of entrepreneurs are thriving right now because they're offering short-term solutions. What people need right now are quick wins, so it's not the best time to offer year long programs or processes where they won't see results early on. Give your audience something they can implement and see results right away.
Brand building
Not everyone has the resources to invest in you right now. But you should still think about creating connections and inspiration by sharing your vision and giving people value. You can do this through a freebie, a masterclass or even your higher end content. Because when the crisis passes and people have the resources again to invest, they are going to remember the brands that gave them inspiration and guidance during this difficult time, and turn to them.

Momentum
This week, I'm starting a new sprint inside my Momentum group coaching and accountability program. Most online entrepreneurs plan and prepare their launches too late or just a couple of weeks before they want to launch. With this new 60 day sprint, our Momentum members will create a runway so their launches can take off in the fall. I always have a runway in my launches and this is the first time I break down exactly what you need to do to have a multiple 6 or 7 figure launch.
I'm so excited to see everyone in Momentum take off with a great runway. If you're making money in your online business but not yet at $20K/month then Momentum might be something for you.

Have you ever envisioned something that then came true?
Everything I achieved so far, I have envisioned first. I truly believe in the method of envisioning where I want to be to then be able to get there.
Rachel Luna, my guest on the Sigrun Show this week, has specialised in designing her future by envisioning it first, and she does so through journaling.
Rachel had to go through tremendous struggles to get to where she is today. Both of her parents died of AIDS, she battled eating disorders when she was in her teens and in 2006, she was overweight, $40k in debt, and had just found out that her boyfriend of three years was happily married to another woman.
The rug was pulled out from under her feet and she hit rock bottom. But not for the first time in her life, she had an awakening moment and knew she couldn't go on like this. She hired a life coach who told her that with her story, she could help other people and become a life coach herself.
Her faith had always been a pillar for Rachel, but she knew it wasn't enough. She needed to take action and discovered journaling. Within 18 months of writing and drawing how she wanted her life to be like, she met and married her husband, had her first daughter and was financially secure.
In this episode, Rachel shares her personal story, the process she uses to manifest her goals and dreams in her journals, and what she does when things don't work out.
If you're in need of some true inspiration, this episode is right down your alley.
"Life is uncertain from the day we are born and if we accept that truth, everything that we are going through has a different lens."- Rachel Luna

Ready to go after your big goals? Check out how to set and achieve big, hairy audacious goals or how to stop using excuses and achieve anything in life.
The 3 Step Process to Envision Your Goals Through Journaling
There's a difference between keeping a diary to emote your feelings and journaling to manifest your goals. Rachel Luna's advice is to keep moving forward as if what you've asked for has already been granted, and this is how she writes and draws in her journal. She has successfully tested her method on hundreds of her students and here, reveals the three steps on how to use your journal to eventually design your future.
Write
Get a journal and start writing. Write anything, even if you think journaling is a waste of time, you don't know where to begin, or you think you're too busy. The key is to allow journaling to have its moment, give it attention and keep at it.
Shift
Shift from writing your thoughts to adding gratitude into your practice. You have to be grateful for what you have right now if you want to have anything more than what you've already got.
It's ok to want more, but you still have to acknowledge that you have more than most. Begin this step by making a shift statement:
This helps your subconscious brain get into agreement with the fact that you recognise that some of what you're about to write isn't your reality yet, but you're excited and hopeful.
Script
Script your vision and goals as if they already happened. Why? Because when you start writing like this, your ego doesn't want to be proven wrong. The subconscious is always looking for evidence to bring to life the things that you desire. Once you write it down, it will prompt you into action.

Have you ever felt stuck? I certainly have, and in my 7 years of business I learned that in most cases, it's because something that is going on in your head is holding you back.
Feeling stuck can take on many forms. You might not be able to grow your revenue year after year, or you feel that the work you do doesn't represent you, or a negative comment on social media nags at you for weeks, slowing you down and killing your momentum.
Lisa Fabrega is an expert in helping her clients identify what limits their capacities. She started her business as a health coach in 2010, but soon realised that she wasn't really talking to her clients about their food habits, but rather what caused these habits. She attracted entrepreneurs and business owners who came to her because of the inner work she was doing, and soon her waitlists became endless.
In 2015, she started to feel burned out and believed she had to change her business model in order to deal with the stress she experienced. Instead of continuing to only cater to her high end clients, she created a $97 program that was for everyone, thinking this would solve her problem of feeling overwhelmed. Instead, she ended up creating a $100'000 business debt.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Lisa shares how she thought that pursuing a different strategy would guarantee her business success, and how she realised that she should have listened to her intuition instead. She talks about how she started working on her capacities and recovered her business, and how now she focuses on helping her clients expand their capacity to get over their own mental roadblocks.
If you ever felt something is holding you back from moving forward and achieving your goals and you can't really place what it is, you might get enlightened by listening to this episode.
"When I would get a negative comment, it used to slay me for weeks. Now I don't really care anymore, because I've built my capacity to be able to handle it."- Lisa Fabrega

What Is Holding You Back? How to Identify Your Capacity Issue
When something is holding you back, it's sometimes hard to understand what exactly the cause is. Lisa Fabrega says that the start of solving a problem is diagnosing it correctly. She advises everyone who feels they have a capacity issue to be very honest with themselves and try to identify what the real problem is and where you're struggling in the following six areas:
Money capacity
Has your revenue stayed the same year after year? Are you constantly hitting a plateau? Or maybe you hired somebody who costs too much money and drains your resources, even though you could have hired someone who is a better fit? If the answer to such questions is yes, that's a red flag for a money capacity issue.
Visibility capacity
Are there parts of you that you are hiding in your work because you fear people might not like you or people will unsubscribe from your newsletter or list? Understanding and showing who you are is a big part of finding your ideal client. When your branding doesn't represent who you really are, your clients will get confused. Remember that the parts you are hiding are often the ones that make you the most money in your business.
Purpose capacity
There is one simple question that helps you discover if you have a purpose capacity issue: Do you really think that what you're meant to do on this earth with your work is fully reflected by the work you are doing right now? Don't keep on doing work you don't feel aligned with.
Embodiment capacity
How emotionally affected are you by difficult clients, nasty comments, push backs, or disagreements? Emotions can affect the growth in our business. When you feel hurt or embarrassed or ashamed, it will slow you down, not make you take action and hurt your revenue.
Structural capacity
Do you have the foundations and structures (in other words, your team or virtual assistant) in place right now that you will need in five years? Allow other people to do things that are pulling your time away from growing. Only like this will you get to where you want to be.
Boundary capacity
This isn't about whether the boundaries you have right now are working for you or not. Think five years ahead, and envision the woman you are going to be with the boundaries you have in place right now. If you are going to become this woman, you need to have the boundaries she will have in the future.
Did you identify with one of the capacity areas above? Let me know if this episode helped you nail down what limits your own capacities. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Are you on the fence about starting your online business? Even if you know you need to?
Online is here to stay - we all know it. Having an online business is more important than ever in times when everything is uncertain and another lockdown could happen at any moment.
I hear many women who want to go online, yet they feel overwhelmed and come up with excuses. Starting and scaling an online business can seem scary. But if you have the right process and are willing to take action, you've already gone half the way.
My business has grown over 30% compared to the same period last year, and in this episode of the Sigrun Show, I will break down how easy it is to get started and scale your online business without getting overwhelmed.
If you know that online is the way to go but you're stuck, overthinking or are scared of taking the next step, this episode is for you.
"People don't really take action on their own."- Sigrun
What you will get out of this episode:
Want to dive deeper? If you're just getting started, find out if you can start a business without a business idea or how to stop overthinking and start doing today.
Start and Scale Your Online Business: Finding the Right Process
We will not go back to the way things were before. Online is here to stay - and having an online business has become more important than ever before.
Most business owners understand the importance of being able to go 100% online. What if a second wave hits us? What if there is another lockdown? But what is the easiest way to get started and scale your online business without getting stuck, procrastinating, overcoming perfectionism?
Over the years I have come up with a process I apply in my 8 and 10 week challenges that helps my clients get out of their overwhelm and makes them take action. Here, I'm revealing the key components of this process to you:
When people see all the possibilities, when they start to worry about freebies, landing pages, email lists, websites, their social media presence, launches - they quickly give up because it overwhelms them. Of course these are things you need to do when creating and scaling your online business, but you don't necessarily have to do them today, or tomorrow, or even this week. For my challenge, I came up with 26 tiny steps to follow, and suddenly, everyone could do it, even the ones who were the most scared. The overwhelm was gone.
I encourage my clients to fill out a form on a regular basis throughout the program. That's how I get them to commit to the process. It also creates a sense of responsibility. A lot of people buy courses and never finish them. By filling out forms, they are committing to do the work. And when someone has doubts, people in the community surround them with inspiration and motivation, and the positive group pressure keeps them going.
When you decide to start and scale your online business, you have to find a process and stick with it. When you start to doubt this process, you won't keep up and get stuck, and eventually give up. That's why everyday, I tell my clients to just trust the process.
It's so important to celebrate success. After 10 weeks, I do a celebration call where I highlight all the wins of my clients, and they can share what went well for them and what they want to improve. Celebrating success makes them see their progress and inspires them to go even further.
With this process, I've helped hundreds of women get unstuck. They stopped being overwhelmed, using excuses and got their work done.
If you want to start your online business, I encourage you to find a way to be a part of such a process. Because even though I'm very self-motivated myself, I wish I had found a process like this to guide me when I was starting out in my business.
Are you ready to start and scale your own online business? Let me know if this episode inspired you to take action. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

We've all been there: You just published your blog post or put live your latest podcast episode and sent out an email to your whole list, letting them know about the amazing content you've prepared. The response? Crickets.
Bobby Klinck knows that kind of deafening silence all too well. He graduated from Harvard law school, worked in prestigious law firms and for the government. He suited up, but soon realised it wasn't for him. That's when he decided to pivot and build up his own online business.
At first he struggled. He made the classic entrepreneurial mistake of thinking he knew exactly what his audience needed. "It was a total flop," he remembers his first launch, for he only made one sale, and the person who bought asked for a refund the day before the end of his course.
But he didn't give up. Bobby took the time to get to know other online entrepreneurs and understand what their fears and needs are. When the GDPR law was introduced, Amy Porterfield interviewed him on her podcast as an expert, and things started rolling.
He was giving free advice on legal issues and selling legal templates when people started asking him how he managed to get all these raving fans. At the time, Bobby had switched to only doing email launches, and had discovered something very important: People didn't want a weekly summary of his legal content. They wanted to read his stories.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Bobby shares how he uses storytelling in his email marketing to connect with his audience and turn cold leads into raving fans.
Are you wondering what will make your audience read your weekly emails? If you're frustrated about your low opening rates, this episode is a must-listen!
"Every single week, I send my email list a story of my life."- Bobby Klinck
What you will get out of this episode:
Want to know more about storytelling and creating epic content? Read the story behind my biggest email mistake or learn how to make your content stand out in a crowded marketplace.
How to Boost Your Email Marketing with Storytelling
Don't think you're a good storyteller? I never thought of myself as a good copywriter. I started to write newsletters and did what I saw everybody else doing. The result? I got no responses to my emails. Even I started to think that my newsletters were boring. I decided to start telling stories instead, and that's when everything changed.
A story doesn't have to be grand or epic. Most stories can be something that happened to you in 15 seconds but you still learned a lesson from. It's about the small things that happen to you throughout the day. There's nothing like storytelling to create a connection with your audience and boost your email marketing. To help you write great stories, here are some tips:
Everything that happens to you is a potential story - special and weird moments, but also when you make a mistake. Start collecting these story ideas in a journal or on a spreadsheet so you can use them for future newsletters. You don't have to write up the whole story, just write down the topic and what the story is about so it will jog your memory. Put down some bullet points with lessons or themes you could take out of that story that are related to your business. The key here is: Share your story when you feel ready to share the lesson you've learned from it.
When you're telling stories, tell them as if you're talking to a friend, not to an email list of people you might not know. Be yourself, authentic, real and vulnerable. However: Be sure the point of your story comes across. If it doesn't have a clear message, it's like telling a joke without revealing its ending. The joke won't work.
It's important that you start and finish your story strong. Start with a sentence that immediately grabs the attention of your readers, and only then explain the circumstances around it. Choose an exciting subject line to make sure the people on your list want to know more.
Are you inspired to start telling your stories and use them for your email marketing? Let me know if this episode was helpful to you. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
