Our guests this morning are Lisa Coffi, Suzanne Dean and Cylan Brown from Shakespeare by the Sea.

Suzanne Dean is the Associate Artistic and Development Director for Los Angeles based Shakespeare by the Sea; Co-Founder/Associate Artistic Director of Little Fish Theatre; a freelance film/video producer; and an actress. She has been a part of SBTS since 2000.  An active member of the international Shakespeare Theatre Association, she serves on the Shakespeare’s Legacy 400 (1616-2016) Committee as the Lead of the We Are Shakespeare Digital Video Festival. Suzanne also contributes as a grant writer and development consultant for non-profit arts organizations in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.

After appearing on the SBTS stage many times, and assistant directing The Tempest last year, Cy Brown is very excited to be making his first full length directing debut with SBTS. He has recently directed The 39 Steps and ever popular Pick of the Vine short plays series for Little Fish Theatre. 

Lisa Coffi , Founder & Producing Artistic Director of Shakespeare by the Sea, is delighted to present the 19th season of Shakespeare plays, delivered under the stars at locations throughout Southern California. She has an MFA in Theatre Management from CSU, Long Beach, and a BFA from CSU, Sacramento. Lauded as “Pedro’s Playmaker” by Random Lengths News.

This season, Shakespeare by the Sea presents two brand new productions staged at venues throughout the South Bay. Performances of Cymbeline and Othello will take place during July and August and this morning, we’re going to learn what audiences can expect.

Don Franken is Equally comfortable producing and providing public relations for sports and entertainment, Franken is the founder and a Principal in Method Films and Entertainment. Don produces and heads up Development. Don is a principal in Rogue Arts, which has made seven feature films and distributed over 40 films. Method Films and Entertainment currently has a studio film in development as well as a new TV series.  Method Films and Entertainment also has the option on three new feature films and is in development on “The Kid: Chamaco: The TV Series.

Andrew Johnson works for the American Cancer Society as the Community Manager, Relay For Life.  He oversees a portfolio of four communities including: Palos Verdes Peninsula, Torrance, Catalina Island, and Carson.  Prior to working for the American Cancer Society, Andrew studied Public Health Policy at UC Irvine and worked for the Alzheimer’s Association, and Pomona Valley Habitat For Humanity. When Andrew isn’t fighting for a world free from cancer he has disappeared on some hiking trail for a weekend backpacking trip to get much needed R  & R.

This morning, we’re going to learn all this great local 5k run and it's impact on local American Cancer Society fundraising and the opportunities for you to get involved.

Margaret Alvarez is co-President of the Neptunian Woman’s Club of Manhattan Beach along with Suzanne Sharer for the 2015-16 term. Prior to this Margaret served as Treasurer and has been active with the Neptunian organization since 2014. Margaret and her husband have lived in Manhattan Beach for over 20 years. Hers professional background includes real estate management, development and finance, primarily in the affordable housing arena. She is currently assisting with a project in Marina del Rey to renovate 200 luxury apartment units.

Suzanne Sharer was born and raised in Tenafly, New Jersey and is a sixteen year resident of Manhattan Beach. She owns two businesses with her partner/husband, one based in Riverside and the other in Hermosa Beach. Suzanne has been a multiple term board member for The Neptunian Woman's Club as VP of Fundraising and has just joined Margaret Alvarez as Co-President.

Laura Fischer is the Director of Communications for the Neptunian Woman’s Club. Last year she served as the Website Manager, and led the team of members that began the re-branding of the organization through a local logo contest to find a fresh logo and the revamping of the website. Professionally, she has two passions;

Suzie Wand has been with the Torrance Community Services Department for the past 32 years. She currently oversees the Department’s Special Events, which include: Breakfast with the Bunny, Movies in the Park, Halloween Carnival, Turkey Trot Fun Run and Breakfast with Santa. In addition to Special Events, Suzie supervises several other programs including, the After School Club, Day Camp (Summer, Spring and Winter Breaks), and Parks and Programs for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. Suzie is a lifelong resident of Torrance and greatly appreciates working for the City which has meant so much to her and her family.

Hillary Theyer is the City Librarian, directing the activities of the Torrance Public Library system. She has worked in public libraries since she was fifteen, and the last sixteen years with the Torrance Public Library. She has her Masters in Library Science from UCLA and Masters in Public Administration from California State University Long Beach. Her passion is reaching everyone with the power that is the public library.

This morning, we’re going to learn about the various summer programs Torrance offers the community including the popular Movies in the Park.

Our guest this morning is Tommy Ostendorf, Managing Director for Body Glove Campsurf.

Competitive Longboarder and top Shortboarder from Manhattan Beach, Tommy learned to surf in Manhattan Beach at age 10, started competing at age 12, and began teaching with Campsurf at 13. In 2005 Tommy was the National Collegiate Longboard Champion and California State Champion. He finished Top 10 overall in the 2002 Professional Surfing Tour of America. Tommy graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Business Administration where he was Captain of the Surf Team for three of his four years. Recently, he worked as a boatman and lifeguard at the famous island surf resort of Tavarua. His Surf travels include Hawaii, Bali, the Mentawai Islands, the Bahamas, Baja California, Mainland Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, France, Portugal, Spain, Florida, and Virginia. He has competed in several professional competitions with the world’s top longboard surfers. Tommy’s been with Body Glove from the beginning and is a fluid surfer in and out of the water.

This morning, we’re going to learn what Body Glove has on tap this summer.
