We all have needs - but sometimes, figuring out what needs are going unmet can be a challenge. In this episode, I'm sharing my own experience discovering of learning how to check in with myself about my needs, and helping you do the same. What it comes down to: Moms need time for themselves.
When our needs are met, we are able to not only show up as fuller versions of ourselves for our children, but we also live more fulfilled lives. Checking in with yourself matters. Your needs matter.

This one is for the mom who is wanting more, whatever that "more" is to her. I am joined by Nadine Stille, a recovering stressed-out mama who supports moms who want to ditch the daily grind and bring more joy into their lives - both at home and at work. A little about our guest:

The pressure that moms feel is relentless, unique to moms, and is definitely unsustainable, draining moms of joy. Nadine is here to show moms a more balanced and joy-filled way. She helps busy moms realize how powerful and amazing they already are. Together, they'll focus on what works for them specifically for long lasting, sustainable changes that make for a joy-filled life and a fulfilled career. Together with her kiddo and hubby, she lives in Vancouver, Canada. She's lived all over the world, in fact, Canada is her 6th country and she just can’t get enough of these mountains and ocean views! When she's not having fun playing with (or running after) her Little One, you might find her taking a moment for herself with a romance novel.

There's a trend I've been seeing in the online space among mom influencers about how we should stop talking about how hard motherhood is because it makes it feel harder. As someone who has studied the sociological context of motherhood and built a platform based in part on conversations about the challenges of motherhood, I am responding with my own thoughts.
I'm sharing why we actually should continue to talk about how hard motherhood and parenting can be, as well as some of my own experiences of how openness about the challenges can be freeing. Plus, I'm giving a little behind the scenes about how bedtime & sleep is currently going at my house (and I'll give you a hint: it's not great).

Self-criticism is unfortunately a part of most of our motherhood experiences, and in this episode I'm joined by Life and Mindset Coach Amanda de la Madriz for a conversation on how this impacts us and what we can do to combat it. With conscious effort, we can learn to be a little more compassionate towards ourself in motherhood and life.

A little about our guest:
Amanda de la Madriz is a Certified Life + Mindset Coach who focuses on teaching mothers how to love their mom lives so that they can drop the guilt and feel better. Working as a Career Coach since 2013, Amanda decided to dedicate herself solely to raising her children in 2016. And after experiencing the trials of pandemic parent life as a stay at home mom, she realized the desire to help other parents beat the burnout in their lives. Most recently certified through The Life Coach School, she has also now added thoughtwork to her toolset in order to help clients shift their mindset as well as achieve their goals. The transition into motherhood often feels disorienting and destabilizing - and when we don't have the language to adequately communicate our experiences, it can feel isolating and like there is something wrong. So in this episode, we are putting a name to the experience: Matrescence. I am joined by motherhood therapist & matrescence coach Chelsea Robinson, LCSW, for a conversation on the experience of becoming a mother, the continual transformation that comes with that role, and how an understanding of matresence can expand our views of motherhood for all.
In this episode, Chelsea and I talk about:
A little about our guest:
Chelsea Robinson, LCSW, is a motherhood therapist, matrescence coach, village builder and founder of Mama’s Modern Village. With over 10 years of experience in the field of mental health, she supports women on their motherhood journey at the intersection of modern motherhood culture and a woman’s matrescence, her transition from woman to mother. Chelsea is not a parenting expert, rather an expert on the mama, whose work centers on bringing the mother back into focus. Chelsea has created "Becoming Mama", a 12-week program designed to support women all along their motherhood journey in decreasing their burnout, stress and overwhelm, while increasing their confidence, joy and understanding of their matrescence. She is bringing her work into the professional sphere this year when she launches her Becoming Mama professional training. You can find her as a Motherly expert and contributing to international publications like the UK's #1 woman's health magazine.
