Let's talk about what the world was like before all this prohibition nonsense! Well, we can try to get a glimpse, at least. Turns out the world wasn't that dazzled by this amazing flower, except for Ayurvedic practitioners. From the Chinese, to India and along the trade routes, we slowly piece together a better understanding of how cannabis traveled the world, and became a threat to all of Western civilization.

Back on track, we finish up discussing Indica vs Sativa; by the end you might be able to walk into your dispensary with an idea of how to ask for what you want. The real key is to walk in knowing what you need. Being articulate about your desired experience makes a big difference, but it really comes down to availability and your budtender's knowledge of the menu. Not all budtenders are equal! Research your dispensaries for a better advantage. We talk a bit more about the influence of CBD, edibles and the effects of the smoke; just some things to keep in mind. I also share my personal experience with some of the ways I medicate for depression.

The season catches up with me...and I did just spend all weekend at a concentrate competition! Lemme tell ya about it. First I share some personal things, and then we talk about The Secret Cup, a cannabis concentrate competition where ticket holders can vote on the entries. Of course that means you have to try them... and oh did we try them! This isn't the slickest cup of them all, but it holds a special place in my stoner heart. In the Safety, I discuss the booty from my adventures.

Delving deeper into the fragrant black hole of terpenes; it's a nuanced study. Terpene wheels help you level up on your stoner game, and discuss weed like a snob. But also educate us on how to expand our medicine cabinets like a pro. Cannabis breeding has a long history of rebellion and subversion; and we salute them for it! The spats, locales and effects of these strains' roots can often be identified in the names gifted to them. When experimenting with CBD, these differences still come into play, so proceed as needed. In the Safety Meeting, I head back for some Dutch Treat, and throw in a little Key Lime Pie. I have a sweet tooth ...what can I say?! Speaking of, get ready for a sweet glass giveaway thanks to the awesome Ethan Lesch.

The Question that's too big for just one Potcast: What makes an indica vs a sativa? It's different for growers vs tokers, but maybe you're one in the same? Well, the short answer is terpenes, so that's where we'll start. But it's the effects that we need to know so the tl;dr of it is: indicas act as neuro-depressants and sativas act as neuro-stimulants. Knowing your needs and being educated on the possibilities is essential to discovering your perfect strain. Luckily there are White Knights of Science helping us out, specifically at the Werc Shop. Listener questions get answered; can just putting weed on food get you high? In the Safety we take a look at the CVault, and my experiences with TSA (spoiler alert: No problemo!)

Lucky 7! In this episode I hypothesize about the absorption of topical applications, and what might be another reason for some of the psycho-activity experienced by sensitive users. But science really needs to get on this! Til then, I'll take what I can get - do they still need subjects for that intravenous study? Did you know topicals aren't just lotions and salves? You can use one of the oldest forms of pain relief: the poultice. Feel like a witch and make some herbal magic pain relieving potions. Even for those intimate moments! In the Safety I discuss the Cannalgesic line of topical products. My anti-wrinkle secret weapon!

A quick introduction into the lesser known options of medicating, which are the BEST options for patients seeking a controllable edible, who cannot eat or metabolize normally, or the sneaky would-be toker. The options' effects vary from very mild to WHERE'D THAT TRUCK COME FROM?! So get informed before you jump in! VA doctors in medical states can finally discuss mmj with their patients thanks to a Congressional spending bill, and some persistent legislators. Happy Veterans' Day! But...how do I find weed? No more street corners for legal patients. As we Safety, we take it to the internets for some options -no Bitcoin required.

After I ate too much edible yesterday, let's discuss the importance of moderation when trying edibles. This includes knowing which type of cannabis is right for you, the milligrams of cannabinoids involved and how our body accepts the cannabinoids. Following up or starting out with a lipid (oils and fats) and/or an alcohol can magnify the already potent effects of edibles. Might want to rethink that cookie if you've had a few drinks! But first we touch very quickly on some of the hottest current political events: California, Ohio, Mexico -it's all happening so fast! In the Safety, we discuss the KindScope and scope on some trichomes, while tokin' on some Dream Queen, a sativa dominant strain.

It's the first Potcast recording since launch! In a new segment I'm calling Stoner Moments I touch back on last week's potcast. We talk about methods for vaporizing flower, cartridge pens, vape juice tanks, and pen vaporizers. The Health Stone, E-Nails, and the best of all Dab Rigs. I share my new favorite use for shatter, and it's not getting me high! It is saving me a lot of money and grief though, as well as being inspired by cancer fighting technology. Concentrates get a bad rap, but I talk about some of the reasons they're invaluable, and historically are nothing to be afraid of. In the Safety, I answer some listener questions, give some tips for dealing with pull and snap wax, smoke some super giggle-inducing Dutch Treat and talk about the Nail Crown -a product I'd like to try!

Recording during the daytime! While this sunnier potcast is far from an all-inclusive step-by-step on the particulars of smoking weed, it's filled with tips for beginners to think about and remember as they venture into this hazy territory. But I haven't forgotten about the rest of us! There are some tips for how to maintain your high in the face of tolerance, without having to up your potency. Turns out, it's also a great way to combat the building depression or anxiety that can come with targeted medicating.
