Jim Mullane’s page @getbetterwithbooks has over 300,000 followers across IG and TikTok. It focuses a lot around self help, which I love, but also covers a large range and genre of books. Books are so powerful. They can shift our perspective. They can change who we are. They can teach us how to be more loving or how to become the best version of ourself. They can open our minds and hearts to wisdom and knowledge we didn’t know existed. I really enjoyed talking with Jim and feeling his passion to serve, help others and do good in this world through the beauty of books.

Lauren Botticelli is the Director of Operations at The Animal Pad, a 501c3 Non-profit, all breed dog rescue that’s based in San Diego. They are 100% donation based and volunteer run. They’re actually where we got our dog Summer from! It’s an unbelievable organization who does everything in its power to connect rescued dogs with a loving and caring home where they can thrive. The Animal Pad is super supportive and does a great job of setting dogs and their new families up for success. It was incredibly moving to hear Lauren talk about the joy and fulfillment she receives from volunteering, giving and serving every single day. It’s inspired me and I hope it inspires you.

Alex Bushman is the Co-Founder of We Gave What, the philanthropic arm of We Wore What which has a massive social media presence. They’re based in New York City and they share charitable initiatives and also raise awareness for small businesses. It all started in the beginning of Covid when Danielle Bernstein, the Founder of We Wore What, wanted to use her platform to help and support small businesses and people in need. Her and Alex teamed up and they’ve been making an impact ever since. Alex’s greatest inspiration in starting this was seeing so many people come together to love and support each other during this pandemic. It connects to exactly how she felt as we came together as a country after 9/11. Her family lived in downtown NYC at that time and she talks about how that experience influenced her.

During this episode John Finch shares his miraculous lifelong story of how he was finally able to come to peace and forgive his father, who committed suicide when he was just a boy. John talks about the defining moment that allowed him to release his negative feelings and find compassion and acceptance for who his father was. That forgiveness freed him and drastically changed his life so much for the better, it’s really beautiful and I’m so happy for John. He channeled his story into his career, writing a book and creating a movie called The Father Effect.

My buddy Fred Quartlebaum aka Q is one of the most positive people I’ve ever met. He’s the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at Kansas University, but how he shows up and contributes is so much more than just that title which he talks about during the episode. We’ve known each other for a year and a half and have never met in person. We were both invited on a weekly positivity video call back in March 2020 right after we went into lockdown. That call helped us both tremendously during that scary and very uncertain time. This episode is filled with practices and insights on how you can bring more GRATITUDE & POSITIVITY into your daily life!
Knowing who you think you are AND being who you are, those are totally different things.
It’s one thing to know who you are in theory and thought, and another thing all together to actually BE IT.
In this episode we explore this thought further.
Also, another thought ties in with this...the idea to stop asking people "what do you believe in?", and instead ask them "who are you?" and "how are you actually showing up in the world?" Your beliefs can be one thing and how you're acting can be something totally different.

Today’s guest is an incredible LA based Artist who’s tagline is “live through love”. Ruben Rojas creates murals, sculptures, prints, apparel and more all centered around the energy of love. His artwork is filled with bright, beautiful colors with uplifting messages which are sure to bring a smile to your face. Ruben wasn’t always creating art for a living. Just a few years ago he worked in finance, but left that world behind to follow his passion and he’s never looked back. It’s amazing to chat with another male who is helping push stigmas aside and centering his life around the power of love.

Today’s guest is Evan Ehlers, he’s the Founder of the non-profit Sharing Excess. Evan really helped open my eyes to the food crisis issue that is happening right now which impacts so many people. Sharing Excess aims to address the crucial need for food by delivering regular surplus from grocers, restaurants, wholesalers and farmers to communities experiencing food insecurity. Him and his team play a unique role in regularly rescuing and distributing food excess to undeserved areas. He shares some statistics that blew my mind. In the US, nearly 40% of the food we produce goes to waste. That’s approximately 120 billion pounds of food ending up in landfills each year, which is enough to fill more than 700 NFL stadiums from the ground to the very top with uneaten food. These numbers are staggering. In the episode Evan talks about what his team is doing now and what we all can do to help combat this food crisis.
