"It's a damn disease is what it is."  quickly became an iconic quote which nearly all turkey hunters have seen or heard over the years. It was given by an old pro named Redbeard, with the moment captured by today's guest, Nathaniel Maddux, over seven years ago. From the land of Osceolas, Host Hunter Farrior catches a free morning to meet co-host Austin Sills down in Florida for a quick hunt, while hanging out with Pete Muller, Conner Mobley, and Nathaniel Maddux as they film and produce Spring Legion's "Turkey Call" episode for the NWTF series airing this spring.

In this episode:

• Hunter finally welcomes the twins into the world.
• A backstory on the infamous "it's a damn disease" moment.
• A quick Osceola hunt that will air via NWTF this season.
• The rich history of "Turkey Call."

For those who love hunting the wild turkey, one of the biggest drivers for such obsession is figuring them out. Today's guest spends a large portion of his time doing exactly that, and he hops on the line with host Hunter Farrior to fill us in on a few things he's learned about the bird along the way. Dr. Mike Chamberlain leads several research projects across the southeast, which study wild turkeys and their behavior, so there's a lot of good to learn as we prepare for the season right around the corner.

In this episode:

• The probability of a turkey egg hatching and becoming a mature gobbler.
• Do jakes breed hens?
• Can you determine a gobblers age by spur length?
• Should you shoot the strutter or subordinate gobbler if two approach you?
• Insight on current studies using devices to read and record public land gobbles.
