The Str8OutDaDen Podcast

We all know that technology can be a gift and a curse at times and for our latest podcast another gift was given. This is the best example of being active on your social media. Lazies meet Rod McCoy. The Alabama native currently residing in Atlanta, who we met after starting a conversation on Twitter one night. The homie sat with us and gave a detailed account of his journey of playing ball to leaving school for the military, which eventually led him to the studio. Rod also gave us some insight on his upcoming joint album with Synik (which is available for pre-order here), spoke on what really happens when you invest in your own career and of course we got bars. So you know the drill...sit back...Relax and Listen!

By now you should have heard this name mentioned quite a few times lately on Da Den. Trust me its for good reason. Our latest guest on the podcast, first made his way on Da Den back in March with a record entitled “Coolest“. Lazies meet Zulu FaZ. Now residing in Atlanta, the Zimbabwe born emcee shares his story with us. We got very specific in his journey to music, that included stepping out on faith and moving to the city. We also spoke on his transition from producing to rhyming and the importance of connecting with the people through live shows. Definitely worth ALL 80 minutes. Oh and how could I forget that the homie freestyles over classic instrumentals from Keith Science. So you know the drill…sit back…Relax and Listen!

First off I want to say that this is an older podcast that we did with the homie Scotty ATL last year. This was a classic convo and I thought it would be a good idea for our Soundcloud family to take a listen again.

For me to call him a dope emcee would be an understatement. He is more like a good person, business man and a force in hip-hop. You may be familiar with his F.A.I.T.H. mixtape that dropped recently, but we went a little deeper. We went back to Summer Dreams, those skits on the Jiffy Cornbread Experience, his relationship with Trinidad James and we even got Mac and JRoc to chime in on the issues going on in our community. Of course we got a freestyle. So you know the drill…sit back…Relax and Listen!

Back when we started this podcast; one of the first people I sat with was Abib Jahleel and TRUTH of The Winning Team. During that time Coop had just dropped a dope project by the name of PimpTightPlaya and shortly after was in the military. He missed that first convo, but luckily for us all he was in attendance along with Abib and TRUTH for our latest podcast. The Winning Team spoke on how they crew came to fruition, gave us some insight on their upcoming album The Losers Win Again and broke down how they are becoming a one stop shop indy label. Oh and we couldn't forget about the bars. Listen as the whole crew goes in over the classic MC Lyte "Brooklyn" instrumental.

I guess its safe to say we have been on somewhat of a roll lately with our podcast. Today is no different as we sat down with Atlanta emcee Quan Maserati. The way we met is a true definition of networking. The both of us happened to have the same barber and he thought it would be a good idea that we linked up. Thankfully we did. The homie gave us an exclusive breakdown of his debut project #iCantDie, along with an honest account of his life and music.

Yesterday we were back in Da Den and man was it a treat. Some of you may be familiar with our latest guest from his "Olin" single that dropped a couple of months ago. If that didn't jog your memory, that's cool because we learn everything there is to know about Spooks McGhie. From being homeless to being arrested to overcoming it all with his amazing talents. The Atlanta resident takes us through his personal testimony. To say this one is dope is a true understatement...don't believe? Relax and Listen for yourself.

For our latest podcast we traveled far away from Da Den. Instead we took the show on the road literally; recording from the comfort of my car. Our guest fit the mold perfectly for our unconventional recording method for this interview. Lazies meet Chiiirp. The Detroit native now residing in Atlanta, met me in Little 5 Points to talk about everything from art, music, life and the meaning of those "iii" in her name. We started off the podcast reminiscing on how I first came to learn about who she was and from there on, things feel in place. We even got into a new segment called "Art Speak", as tried my best to interpret Chiiirp's paintings she brought along. Very dope episode to say the least and we capped it all off with her freestyling to some of my beats right off the laptop. So hey you know the drill...sit back...Relax and Listen!

Usually on the Str8OutDaDen podcast emcees breakout in a freestyle session at the end before we leave. Well not Macon Hamilton. As I walk into his place the music was already playing and once we hit record bars ensued. But this wasn't the end for the homie. He continued to freestyle throughout the podcast and truly showed his passion for the craft. We did manage to get his insight on life and how he started rapping. Plus we heard an exclusive from his upcoming mixtape, Rich By 19, Wealthy By 21. So you know the drill...sit back...Relax and Listen!

For our latest podcast we were joined by Creative Loafing 2013 Best Local Hip-Hop Act Tom P and his homie Paul T. Boy did we have fun with this one! Tom P talks his early start, grinding on the indy scene and shares hilarious stories of being on tour with Tech N9ne, MGK, Bone Thugs N Harmony and more. Oh yeah plus we got some crazy bars from the homie as well. As a matter of fact we have an autographed copy of Tom P's The Preacher's Kid for one lucky listener. How to win? Drop a comment and tell us what song Tom P freestyles over during our #VinylConversations segment. So you know the drill...sit back...Relax and Listen!

A couple of weeks back Plewto Smith was our Sunday Spotlight artist and after a few exchanges back and forth over Facebook, it was time to get him in Da Den for a podcast. Oh the hilarity that ensued. Classic episode today and stories upon stories, including life in high school, wanting to be a singer and more. Of course we got in a freestyle during our #VinylConversations segment. So you know the drill...sit back...Relax and Listen!
