The Suspense is Killing Us

TONYVEMBER BEGINS! Tony Scott and the nineties went together like bangers and mash, which we can only assume Mr. Scott enjoyed. We explore three violent, flashy 90's classics in which he continued to forge his trademark style.

REVENGE (1990)

THE LAST BOY SCOUT (1991)

ENEMY OF THE STATE (1998)

Just in time for two days after Halloween, here are three movies about Satan's monkeyshines at the end of the previous millennium. The late 90's were a pretty productive time for Old Scratch!

STIGMATA (1999, Rupert Wainwright)

END OF DAYS (1999, Peter Hyams)

LOST SOULS (2000, Janusz Kaminski)

Hope you're hungry! We ring in Spooky Season with a trio of Thomas Harris also-rans that are only suitable for a well-scrubbed rube. Okey dokey!

HANNIBAL (2001, Ridley Scott)

RED DRAGON (2002, Brett Ratner)

HANNIBAL RISING (2007, Peter Webber)

Celebrating the work of the recently departed Wolfgang Petersen, who had an amazing career, punctuated by a string of huge hits in the 90's. What was the secret to his populist magic? How was he able to create a body of work so perfectly tailored for dads?

IN THE LINE OF FIRE (1993)

OUTBREAK (1995)

AIR FORCE ONE (1997)

We celebrate Long Island's most prestigious acting family with a trio of movies showcasing Alec (the talented one), Billy (the hot one) and Stephen (one of the other ones).

THE GETAWAY (1994, Roger Donaldson)

FAIR GAME (1995, Andrew Sipes)

FLED (1996, Kevin Hooks)

Are you READY to get BLAND and MIDDLEBROW? That's right, it's a celebration of the valiantly mediocre captain of conventionality, DAVID KOEPP! He's more than just the guy who wrote Jurassic Park!

THE TRIGGER EFFECT (1996)

SECRET WINDOW (2004)

PREMIUM RUSH (2012)

Bad houses with creepy people in them are no match for plucky blonde teens! Watch out, ya lousy houses!

GLASS HOUSE (2001, Daniel Sackheim)

THE QUIET (2005, Jamie Babbit)

HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET (2012, Mark Tonderai)

It's a tribute to the great Linda Hamilton, and not a very good one! Yes, two out of three of these are a waste of her talents, but are they fun to watch? Debatable!

BLACK MOON RISING (1986, Harley Cokliss) 21:21

SILENT FALL (1994, Bruce Beresford) 1:11:00

SHADOW CONSPIRACY (1997, George P. Cosmatos) 2:00:15

More growling, more pointing, more rugged decency! That's right, Harrison Ford is back and getting punched around for America again!

WITNESS (1985, Peter Weir) 12:50

THE FUGITIVE (1993, Andrew Davis) 1:10:07

CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER (1994, NOYCE) 2:12:35

The Northern Ireland Conflict was a tragic period that caused pain and suffering for decades, destroying many lives. So that's why it's the PERFECT backdrop for kick-ass thriller-type action!

PATRIOT GAMES (1992, Phillip Noyce) 9:45

THE CRYING GAME (1992, Neil Jordan) 1:02:00

BLOWN AWAY (1994, Stephen Hopkins) 2:02:45
