Stephen Malbon and his wife Erica Founded https://malbongolf.com in 2017. A marriage followed by a pregnancy turned Stephen away away from his wild days, and forced him to confront the game he abandoned as a teenager. 

Years later, it became a central focus. Between the bonds made with the tight-knit LA community, a reclaimed obsession with golf, and the fresh perspective of being a parent, it was clear why Malbon is what it is today. 

Malbon certainly challenges traditional themes in the game many of us know today. During this interview, you'll get to hear Stephen himself explain his path, his mission, and his "Tie" to the game of golf.

The kids are good. Its that simple.

Today we dive into the President's Cup and how it has come to be that the United States is winning these team competitions with such ease. Spoiler, the rest of the world isn't necessarily getting worse, the USA is just getting better. We have access to a pool of players from the NCAA that are pushing the game domestically to new heights with so many early to mid twenty year olds showing up on tour ready to win a soon as they earn their playing rights and there is only reason so believe this phenomenon will grow more and more.

You probably know Cole Hammer as the kid that played in the 2015 US Open at age 15, a 2-time Walker Cupper, and NCAA Champion, Western Amateur Champion, and much more. Matt Ginella has covered golf for 25 years. For someone who collects once in a lifetime golf experiences more often than you get your oil changed, the stories to show the world are endless. But the content- though it lived in his mind-  was scraped into short segments that couldn't possibly tell the full story.

It was after nearly 5 years of frustration that he began working towards owning the content he and his talented team worked so hard on producing. The result was something called The Fire Pit Collective.

During the episode we discuss the full story of how it came to be. Including the departure from Golf Channel, a move out to California, and assembling a lethal team of creatives with the goal of providing them freedom to... create.

We also discuss how golf has proven that it can be a community asset. Although few and far between, it's an important point to highlight as we move towards scaling these concepts as far as they will go.
