Phil. What a guy. Today we're looking into what his career may have looked had Tiger never come around. Probably would have been more majors, probably would have been the biggest name in the game, probably wins a US Open, etc. 

First we're going to dive into the numbers and look at how due to Tiger's reign, Phil has the worst stats on converting wins from top 3 finishes in majors of any player to win more than 2 majors. Second, we will talk about how the psychological effect of being number 2 for so long as well as the built up scar tissue from not being able to convert on majors early in your career creates for a ton of mental baggage. And lastly, we will dive into how it is reasonable to assume that Phil's underachievement on the course has led to the LIV tour as this is all too similar to its other major hitter, Greg Norman.

From caddying at Winged Foot as a kid to starting a niche clothing brand called BDraddy, the game is embedded into the life Billy lives today. 

In this episode: 

We discuss his early years exiting Boston University, entering the workforce, and the factors at play during that phase of life. Eventually we briefly cover the product(s) he and the team work so hard to put out into the market. Lastly, brotherhood- a central theme in BDraddy's Mission, Vision, and Values. And in true Tie fashion, we finish with some coffee talk because... it simply had to be done. 

Like anyone at the top of their game, the final outcome is so simple that it looks to have been easy. The hours of iteration, though, is what we never see... but makes it so gratifying to wear. 

As we move into the future, we look forward to cover more of Billy's story- that of Bdraddy- and the rest of Summit's commitment to the amateur game, as well as the professional one.

Hello everyone- Back again with some golf course architecture, construction, and design talk today with Ben Hillard! 

Ben has been on the run of a lifetime working with Gil Hanse, Jim Wagner, & bits and pieces of the caveman team to restore, build, and renew some of America's most significant golf courses. And with no intention of stopping, we discuss the factors at play in earning a career in this space. 

It's hard work- with a moving office- and with a family, it has given Ben a focus that propelled him from his early days to where he is now having a heavier hand in design. 

Beyond the grind- there are many sunrises and sunsets on beautiful bits of land. Ben has the outlet to create and iterate with good friends and colleagues, to experience different parts of the world with his family, and the building skillset to run the show should he choose.

Some real insight out of this one into the golf course, what it is like to go through final qualifying for the open, especially on a year when the final prize is so coveted, playing with the pros for the first time, and much more.

St. Andrews has a history of seeing amateurs play well so it was fun to hear Barclay's take on why he thinks that is and what he is learning from the players in practice rounds to make a run at carrying on that tradition.
