College golf season  is upon us and we're here to get your engines firing!

Today we are joined by 2 great guests to break down the action from Ridgewood. What an unbelievable US Amateur that was! Hats off to Sam Bennett for the win and some incredible play from many others as well. One of the guys who made a great run at it this week is our guest for part 2 of today's episode, Derek Hitchner. Derek hails from Minnesota and is about to start his 5th year at Pepperdine. Derek took it all the way to the semis of the US Am this week which was super fun to watch and will open a lot of doors for him down the road. 

Before Derek, we are joined by Steve Burkowski from Golf Channel to glean a bit of knowledge from him on what its like to cover the US Amateur and why he loves amateur and collegiate golf so much. Steve's passion is infectious and really proves to us why we do what we do.

Trever Dormer has traveled all over the world to build golf courses. Many days, home has been St. Lucia, or Thailand,  or Nova Scotia. But even if every location was as great as these, Kimberly, BC is best because it's really home.

Purcell Golf lies in the Kootenays right by the St. Mary's river. When plans for the PIE (Purcell International Education) began in 2020, a school campus was to be built on a portion of the existing 18-hole golf course.

After negotiations, Kimberly Golf Club- now Purcell Golf-was invested in and is here to stay.  The club needed  someone to turn the community asset into a centerpiece for the town itself. It was obvious the man for the job was Trevor  Dormer.

The US Amateur will be split into two parts for our final piece of The Tie Summer Amateur series and in this first rendition we have Brentley Romine join us to provide color from on the ground of what he is seeing out at Ridgewood this week.

The Quarterfinals is where this thing starts to get real. The finish line is in sight and the pressure is cranked up that much more. We've got a fun group of golfers still in the game so it will be exciting to see who is able to outlast the last three rounds of match play.

First, Walker is lined by Ben Adelberg from @thebackoftherange to talk about the history, golf course, and the week that was at Exmoor Country Club for the Western Am, and then Henry speaks with Western Amateur Champion, Austin Greaser.

Austin went to the semis of the Western last year before taking it all the way to the finals of the US Amateur which would earn him a spot in this year's Masters and US Open.

Austin is such a humble, good dude and super easy to root for. Check out his story here with us and watch out for him at the US Amateur next week at Ridgewood.
