There is more cap controversy in the NRL after the Bulldogs allegedly offered Gold Coast star Tino Fa'asuamaleaui shares in a pub as part of a contract offer. Forty20 and Clint point to the slippery slope this can lead to and how it ultimately only benefits a select handful of clubs.

The Eels suffered their first defeat at CommBank Stadium since Round 2 after getting run off the park by the New Zealand Warriors 46-10. Although the Blue & Gold were without a number of foundational players, their ruck defence was picked apart by the visitors. The other major happening this week is in the NRLW where the Parramatta Eels host the St George Illawarra Dragons in a preseason trial. In their first ever hit out at their new home at Eric Tweedale Stadium, a new look Parra roster will be looking to build combinations ahead of the season launch in a couple of weeks.

Saturday sees a trio of games for the Blue & Gold and it starts with the Jersey Flegg as they host the Rabbitohs at Ringrose Park. They are without three of their finest with Ethan Sanders, Charlie Guymer and Sam Tuivati playing for NSW Under 19s. In desperate need of a win, the boys look at how the Flegg can get it done.

The NSW Cup are another squad down bad for a win and they enter this week fresh off a bye. Their opponents in the New Zealand Warriors are inside the Top 4 and will be a tough ask to knock over.

Finally we arrive at the NRL with the Eels chasing a career high 6th straight win for Brad Arthur. With no Mitchell Moses, no Reagan Campbell-Gillard and no Clinton Gutherson they are down some serious strike power. Can the likes of Daejarn Asi, Sean Russell and Ofahiki Ogden stand tall?

First up, and on a serious note, is the most recent update to the Dylan Brown's legal situation. The boys discuss what lies ahead for Brown following him pleading guilty to two charges on Wednesday. The NRL is yet to deliver their final punishment and regardless of how that falls, Brown has let plenty of people down with his actions.

A flurry of re-signings happened in the mean time for the Eels with Josh Hodgson, Daejarn Asi, Matt Doorey and Bailey Simonsson sorting their near futures out at the club. The contract talk segues to Bryce Cartwright following media reports of external interest in the in-form backrower as the panel looks at what it might take to pry him away from the Eels.

The NRLW has been busy as well with their roster finally locked in. With the competition around the corner the boys discuss their expectations for the new look squad and how their team identity might be shifting from what we saw in 2022.

There were some earth shaking revelations in the NRL this week with Justin Holbrook sacked by the Titans while Luke Brooks is a Silver Tail. For the Gold Coast they now turn to Des Hasler while the Sea Eagles went on a recruitment and retention spree with Brooks joining a number of other signings on the Northern Beaches. Tigertown is also in the spotlight this week with the departure of Brooks set against reports of clashes between Benji Marshall and Scott Fulton.

Reece Walsh copped a 3-game suspension for the expletive laden barrage he delivered to referee Chris Butler. Was it the right punishment? Could Butler have handled the situation differently? What can league refs learn from their union counterparts? The show looks at all of that and more.

The bye arrives for the Parramatta Eels with five straight wins at their back following their 48-20 victory over the Dolphins. A damn near perfect first half of action was following by a far scrappier second half performance but the Eels continued their offensive blitz in 2023.

The Queenslanders have sealed the 2023 State Of Origin series with a dominant 32-6 victory over the Blues. The Tip Sheet reviews the blowout win and tear into some bizarre decisions from the NSW hierarchy.

It is the preview podcast though and there is plenty to talk about as the Eels take on the Dolphins in the NRL while the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg go head-to-head with the Sharks/Jets. The Flegg is boosted by the returns of Ethan Sanders and Matt Arthur while Cup gets Arthur Miller-Stephen, Matt Doorey and Luca Moretti back into the fold. The NRL squad is hunting for a 5th straight win ahead of their upcoming bye. They will have to beat the Dolphins on the Sunshine Coast in order to do it but will have Mitchell Moses and Junior Paulo on deck. The Dolphins have been borderline revelations in their inception year with Wayne Bennett instilling plenty of grit and toughness into their roster. Parra will need to replicate their strong recent form if they are to make it five straight.
