He also gives an insight into what a day at the races is like for a clerk of the course, describing why he wakes up at 6am every day and how his team works together to pull off the mammoth task of preparing the course.

Not just the man in charge at the TT, Gary also holds both MBE and BEM medals and tells the stories of how they came about to Chris and Steve, including organising the largest land operation since WWII, as well as the big responsibilities he had dealing with members of the royal family.

Dave Molyneux returns for part two of his chat with Chris Pritchard and Steve Plater on the TT Podcast, recorded on the Isle of Man.

The Manxman talks about his time competing at world and European championships - including a surprise trip to Czechoslovakia - and compares how his goals changed as he gained more experiences of different races. He explains why he’s kept coming back to the TT.

A Royal visit to the TT in 2003 marred by rain and fog caused quite a dilemma for the sidecar drivers and passengers, and on the podcast Dave describes the awkward conversation he had to have with the Clerk of the Course!

He talks us through the impact of his 2006 crash, and how he managed to still win both sidecar classes in 2007.

Looking to the future of sidecar racing, Dave tells Chris and Steve that whilst he hopes he’ll see someone hit a 120mph lap of the Mountain Course, he’s equally aware of the need to bring new talent into the sport.

Joining Chris and Steve on The TT Podcast this week is a Manxman who’s currently the 4th most successful TT competitor of all time. Dave Molyneux raced at his first TT in 1985 and since then, has won 17 times.

As well as explaining how his emotions on the startline have changed in the last 37 years, Dave tells the guys about the years leading up to his first races. He talks about his background as a mechanic, and how as a young man he chose jobs he thought would set him up well for a life as an independent rider.

Explaining why he’s always raced sidecars and not solo bikes, Dave talks about his dad’s influence, and how he had a trike as a kid.

Dave also talks about the only time he had an interest in 2 wheel bikes, when he looked after the machinery for fellow Manxman Graeme Cannell - and the job offer he turned down so he could pursue his own racing career.

The podcast also gets Dave’s thoughts on the differences between short-circuit and road racing, including his time at the Ulster Grand Prix.

This week sees the return of Davo Johnson to the TT Podcast.

After making his TT debut in 2010, he missed out on the races in 2011. Davo tells Chris and Steve why that was, and why he returned in 2012 where he achieved a top ten finish in the Senior.

In 2019, Davo got the call from factory Honda to ride for them at the TT. He explains how it came at an interesting time for him and shares how he found riding alongside Ian Hutchinson on the team.

Davo couldn’t ride at TT 2022, but made his return to the Mountain Course at the Manx Grand Prix recently. The guys discuss how the course has changed since TT 2019.

The guys also look ahead to 2023, and find out what Davo’s priorities are moving forwards.

In this episode of the TT Podcast, Australian rider turned commentator Davo Johnson tells Chris and Steve about his career so far.

Davo tells the guys about the first time he watched the Isle of Man TT, and how he thought any suggestion that he might one day race on those roads was ridiculous. Fast forward to today, and he’s competed at nine TTs, including for the factory Honda team in 2019 where he recorded his first podium.

Picking up where part one left off, Conor talks about the short 9 months of rest he took after his crash before getting back on a bike, keen to take on the TT again.

The trio also get into the racer’s experience at this year’s event and why he feels like his racing was the best it’s ever been at any event, though he admits he’s still got a lot to accomplish with the thought of his 23 second lead in 2010, before retiring, etched into his brain.

The Manxman also looks back at the beginning of his racing career including why he didn’t end up pursuing a life on the track and the controversial reactions to his first TT fortnight at the age of 20.

A man with a lightweight win and many a TT podium in his record, James Hillier, joins the TT podcast this week with hosts Chris Pritchard and Steve Plater, but this time they’re recording at the home of the TT itself, the Isle of Man.
