A man with a lightweight win and many a TT podium in his record, James Hillier, joins the TT podcast this week with hosts Chris Pritchard and Steve Plater, but this time they’re recording at the home of the TT itself, the Isle of Man.
Alongside plenty of racing chat, James lets listeners into a bit more of his personal life as he talks about juggling his racing career alongside having kids, renovating a house and working part time selling bikes.
The rider discusses why he swapped out of his famous green leathers to ride for a new team this year and how that brand new set up affected his, self professed, middling results at this years event in June.
Away from TT racing, James gets into his plans to take on the legendary Dakar rally later this year. Whilst he admits that it will be a struggle to get to the end of the event, the ambitious racer describes his hunger to compete and how the TT can prepare you for a rally event.
