  • Episode 132: Is "Adolescence" the Best Show of the Century?

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss Netflix's global powerhouse of a show, Adolescence, which grabs you with a terrific hook (every episode is done in a single take), and keeps you with some of the most harrowing, authentic drama ever put on screen.  Just one week after the disaster that was The Electric State, Netflix has redeemed itself with this amazing show.

THEN, the gang talks Cosm, the brand new sports venue that charges you money to watch events on a TV the size of a wall, with fidelity so good that your selfies fool people into thinking that you were actually at the game.  Is this the future of Sports TV or an overpriced gimmick?

All that PLUS, British Corner, a discussion of why Science Fiction seems to be taking over the streaming world, and a review of Novocaine, the new Jack Quaid movie.

YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS SHOW!

  • Episode 131: Meghan Markle, Mickey 17, and Netflix's $320 Million Bomb

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss Netflix's new $320 million turkey of a movie, The Electric State, and the mistakers that streamers keep making with these gigantic budgets and flat premises.  For the price of a single Electric State, Netflix could have funded a year's worth of Anora-sized movies, releasing one per week.  Would we all rather see that instead of Chris Pratt in a silly mustache?!

THEN, the gang discusses Meghan Markle's new TV show and the internet nerds who insist on review bombing it.

ALL THAT PLUS, A review of Mickey 17, a discussion of The Studio,  the new Apple TV+ show that is being called the "best new comedy in years", and much MUCH more!

  • Episode 130: The Oscars Argument

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss the Oscars and whether or not Conan did a good job hosting. It’s a knock-down, drag-out as Angelo and Jay disagree vehemently on how he did (HINT: Angelo MIGHT be the negative one).

Then, the gang rejoices as Jimmy Johnson FINALLY retires and discusses who else on TV should retire!

All that PLUS: British corner, a roundup of reviews from Angelo, and a discussion of the excellent new biography about Lorne Michaels.

    It’s another CAN’T MISS episode!

  • Episode 129: RIP James Bond, British TV, and MLB

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Jay, and Rhea are back to discuss the capitulation of the Broccoli family, turning James Bond over the Amazon, and what that might mean for the future of the franchise. One thing is for certain, it means the end of the character as we currently know him and that the “Marvelization” of James Bond has begun.

Then, the gang talks about MLB and ESPN parting ways and whether or not there’s a place for Major League Baseball at the big kids table of professional sports in America.

ALL THAT PLUS: Rhea’s thoughts on Daniel Mays comments about the death of British TV, a review of Day One and more thoughts on The Gorge!

  • Episode 128: SNL at 50

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Jay, and Rhea are back to talk about the giant SNL 50th birthday show, the future of the Saturday Night mainstay, and the notable absences in the star-studded lineup.

THEN, the gang discuss Paradise, the new sci-fi thriller on Hulu, and whether or not twists can be overdone. A good one, like Paradise can get people talking, but a bad one feels like a betrayal!

All that PLUS: British corner, a review of the new season of White Lotus, a review of the new Captain America movie, and much MUCH more!!

  • Episode 127: The Big Game

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Jay, and Rhea are back to discuss the Super Bowl in all its glory.  From the broadcast -- how did Tom Brady and Tubi handle themselves -- to the commercials to the big game itself, it's an examination of the biggest TV event of the year from a TV perspective!

Then, Rhea reviews Prime Target, Angelo has a review of the new Hulu show, Paradise, and Jay warns you to stay far, FAR away from Love Hurts.

  • Episode 126: The Super Bowl Preview Show

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Jay, and Rhea are back, with Angelo fighting through the flu, to have a super-sized discussion of the TV event of the year.  Will Tom Brady live up for his $330 million paycheck?  Will the surprise announcement that the game will be simulcast on TUBI, for free, improve the game's ratings?  And, finally, will Fox regret their decision to put The Floor in the prime after-Super-Bowl slot?

Then, the gang discusses the up-coming shows starring Kate Hudson and Robert DeNiro on Netflix.  Has the line between "movie star" and "tv star" been completely eliminated?  Are there any movie stars that you can't ever picture taking a job on TV?

All that PLUS a great new show on British corner, a look behind the scenes at SNL, and a fantastic new movie on Netflix.

    It's another ACTION PACKED episode!

  • Episode 125: Are the Eagles the GOOD GUYS of Super Bowl LIX?!

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo and Jay are joined by guest host Glen Macnow to discuss the growing sentiment that this year's Super Bowl features an underwhelming match-up.  Outside of Kansas City and Philadelphia, it seems like the whole world was rooting for a Commanders/Bills Super Bowl and there are some fans even talking about a boycott.  Will it affect ratings?  Are the Chiefs officially the bad guys of the NFL?  And, does that make the Eagles... the good guys!?

THEN, a discussion of the weird choices made by this year's Oscars and whether or not the critics are out of touch with mainstream society (HINT: THEY ARE!)

All that PLUS, a review of Severance Season 2, a discussion of Netflix's price hike, AND a dramatic reading by Glen Macnow of his character in The Player's Club of Swathmore's staging of Network.

  • Episode 124: AI Adrien Brody, Bob Uecker, and The Man Who Wants To Live Forever

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss the controversy surrounding The Brutalist.  The movie is a critically beloved Oscar contender that has been tarnished in recent days as news has come out that Adrien Brody's Hungarian accent was help along by an AI.  We all know that AI is coming to replace us, but it seems like using it to adjust an accent is the stupidest kind of controversy to court: who cares how his Hungarian accent sounds?

THEN: Rhea tells some great stories about the late Bob Uecker while Angelo does his best to rip both him and David Lynch.  He wants you to know that he is available to give a eulogy!

All that, PLUS: a review of the new documentary on Netflix, Don't Die, a review of a trio of Sebastian Stan movies that just dropped on streaming, and Rhea's British Corner review of Kiera Knightly's new Netflix series!

  • Episode 123: Tom Brady's Conflict of Interest and Better Man's Complete Failure

    Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss whether or not Tom Brady's minority ownership of the Raiders makes it impossible for him to call games for Fox Sports.  We already know that he's not even a middling analyst, but when you factor in the restrictions placed on him by other teams for being an owner, it's safe to say that Brady is stealing a large part of that 1/3rd of a billion dollar deal that he signed.

THEN, the gang talks about the complete and utter failure of the bizarre Robbie William's biopic Better Man, in which the title character is played by a CGI monkey.  The critics seem to think it's a bold and innovative way to tell the same old story, and, indeed, the people who have actually seen the movie appear to enjoy it, but this week it earned $1 million against a budget of... ONE HUNDRED AND TEN MILLION!  How does something like this happen?

ALL THAT, PLUS: A discussion of Lockerbie and shows that hit too close to home, a review of Severance season one ahead of season two's upcoming release, and much MUCH more!
