Jason and Joey are back with another episode of The Grind. This week's guest is Caitlin Pyle, CEO, Author, Entrepreneur, Podcast host and self-made millionaire. The guys set the stage for the interview and spend some time introducing Caitlin and her achievements.
To Start the interview Joey asks about Caitlin's '3 analogies to inspire lasting success', a synergy of stories and lessons about life and work. Caitlin talks a bit about how they came about and why they can be helpful, before the group begins discussing how important spontaneity can be in business. Caitlin talks about what you can gain from learning how to look at the big picture and adapt accordingly.
"Every decision in between faith and fear".
Joey almost has a heart attack when Caitlin says that she hasn't seen Indiana Jones and Caitlin explains her point of view by talking about her familiarity with archetypes and the universality of the human story. Jason asks about Caitlin's proof-reading business and how it came about, which Caitlin explains by taking us back to her early career as a receptionist, all the way through to the evolution of her personal brand.
"So many people in there just need to be told they're not crazy".
Joey in the next segment asks about being yourself and how Caitlin manages her personal and business relationships. After explaining some of her interpersonal philosophy, Caitlin talks about mental health and the systemic problems within the revolving door mental health industry. Caitlin also mentions people's perceptions and how pervasive unfounded negative stereotypes are. Joey and Jason continue to pick Caitlin's brain about people's tendency to stagnate and Caitlin describes how she has combated that in her own life. Afterwards Caitlin delves into how The Legend of Zelda games are analogous to her life journey and the gang have a nice reminisce about their early video game experiences.
To finish up, Caitlin talks a bit about astrology and her future endeavours before they gang say goodbye, until next week… Grind Out.

In this special episode of The Grind Joey is at the Hergenrother Realty Group event 'Advance', sitting down with Matt Kelderman from 'The only real estate podcast worth listening to' and James Anderson from Joey's own team. We join the guys as they sit down for breakfast in Burlington, Vermont to chew the fat.
"If you just chillaxed a little bit, opportunities would present themselves".
Joey begins the discussion talking about the issues people face, not just in realty but in commission only sales in general, when focusing on microcosms of your work instead of the macro picture. Stress, relationships and leadership are all up for grabs as they guys unpack the concept of relaxing and focusing on tangible targets.
"Our worst enemies are distractions and lack of presence".
The next discussion is on social media, marketing yourself and the downsides and benefits to your business and life. The guys talk a bit about their own Facebook habits and some various techniques they have encountered, before telling some anecdotes about the practical application of wider business philosophies.
"Our millennial clients are some of our easiest clients to deal with".
The previous topic leads on to a discussion about the pendulum swing of technologies affect on sales and also the wider ramifications of the digital age itself. Within this the guys touch upon the importance of taking time away from your phone and connected technology in general, which in turn leads to a talk about work life balance. Joey, Max and James then go in depth and tie all of the aforementioned subjects together into practical, real estate advice.
Here endeth the lesson, Grind Out.

Welcome back to another episode of The Grind. This week's guest is Mike Zagare a serial entrepreneur and recovering physical therapist. After founding and being the driving force behind a very successful in-home physical therapy business for several years, Mike was ready to turn his attention to new opportunities and challenges, so he became an Amazon seller.
For anyone who is sick of the 9-to-5 grind, Mike feels your pain. He was there once. Now he's taking the tools and tactics that helped him escape that grind and turn a 40-thousand dollar a month side hustle into a 400-thousand-dollar a month legitimate business.
"The death of an entrepreneur is staying in your comfort zone".
There's no Jason this week, so Joey holds down the fort and tests his solo interview chops. The first topic on today's show is how and why Mike escaped his nine to five grind and embraced his entrepreneurial spirit. This takes us on a journey through his early life, what it takes and what it takes out of you to be a physical therapist. Joey compares Mike's journey with his own and extrapolates some universality between the different journeys you can go on; in pursuit of bettering yourself. Next Joey talks about these same ideas coming up in the book he is currently reading 'A million miles in a thousand years' by Donald Miller, which involves looking at your life through a narrative lens and archetypal journeys.
"This is sucking the soul out of my body and I hate this….Now What?"
The next topic Mike and Joey discuss is the importance of constant learning and growth, Which Joey follows up with a question about any particular epiphanies that Mike feels were titular in his decision to become an entrepreneur. After another insightful anecdote from Mike, he talks about the importance of being creative, loving what you do and how that can help tolerate an overbearing workload. Mike then describes why he meditates every day, the practical uses of doing it regularly and what he has learned from following Dr. Joe Dispenza and his methodology. Joey mentions his fear of the overall productivity lost by people not acting on their desire to change their situation and asks Mike about the role of mentors in his life.
"All I needed was one good idea".
Mike discusses his though process in deciding to start his current ventures and how one simple idea can change everything and catapult your career. He delves into why Amazon is so good as a platform for entrepreneurs and the potential it holds for the future. Joey continues to pick Mike's brain about how his business works and what people can learn from it. The guys talk a bit about targets, challenges and the importance of creating a measurable impact in your own life. Joey gives us a nice conclusion for the episode and we'll see you next week.

Welcome back to another episode of the grind, 78 episodes into the journey and in keeping with tradition, this week's 90's reference is Jerry Maguire. We get an update on Jason's reading list, Joey weighs in on Jason's priorities and methodology for self-betterment and the guys tie it in to the rest of todays themes for a nice introduction. Todays guest is Chris Robbins, founder of Soul Degree, the adventure inspired personal development program for men and retreat that has been a topic of conversation on the podcast many times of late. Chris has 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur in Europe and the US in the fields of real estate, food, media and technology which he draws upon for his events.
"I've said more to those gentlemen and to you than I have said to anyone… ever".
Joey begins the interview describing how he first found Chris's program and in turn Chris describes his first realisations that catalysed the formation of Soul Degree. Chris also talks about the fact that he yearns for those moments of reflection that the retreat creates as much as anyone on the course. Joey asks about the selection process for the course and Chris unpacks how different individuals needs to let lose in nature can influence how they will self-select in a lot of ways. Joey brings up Joe Rogan, his evangelism for the outdoors and talks about people who never leave the city who would love soul degree but don't know they need it. Jason asks Chris about time management and how Chris achieves a work life balance. The guys then deliberate on the importance of having an outlet and how your psyche can be adversely affected by letting negativity build up. The topic of psychological health leads to a discussion about the guys time in the military and the prevailing societal attitude of 'suck it up' and whether or not that idea is feasible long term.
"We have become a society of almost always talking about the weather".
Joey brings up the film 'The mask you live in' and talks a bit about how certain human behaviours, stereotypically associated with men, have been characterised as inherently negative and must be somehow avoided at all costs, the ramifications of which are yet unknown. Chris talks a bit about his childhood, some of his defining moments in his early life and how easy it can be for a child to collapse into their shell. The guys discuss the human need for love, how it motivates most human activity and then we go deep into whether the explosion of social media has helped or hindered human emotional development. The conclusion of this is dependent on what extent you believe social media connections are real and tangible. A majority of the rest of the discussion is about the power of good ideas, the networking and cross pollination that happens when you communicate these and the guys pick Chris's brain on a few finer points before concluding the show.

Welcome back to The Grind. This week see's Joey returning from a ten-day hiatus from technology and describing the euphoria and freedom that it allows you, but also the tribulations and intimidation of trying to catch up. Joey elaborates on his feeling of awareness and being in the moment that not being constantly distracted allows. Jason talks about his attempts to avoid anxiety as a young man and his realisations later in life that are more based on finding a balance. Joey and Jason go into depth on the extent that anxiety runs their life. Often the things that benefit your life can come with anxiety, but without staying the path you can't get to the points of less stress that they can afford you. Joey puts this into perspective with an anecdote about life expectancy and the realisation of mortality.
Jason and Joey discuss the search for moments of Impact and depth in life and how you should manage expectations. Jason talks about how some people are so desperate to create impact in the world around them that they sacrifice having a family and their own happiness. This leads on to an analysis of cost versus benefit in searching for meaning in life and how sometimes the search for it can stop you seeing the meaning you could have otherwise had. Joey then tries to nail down his definition of impact and what it means for him. The guys then discuss how important relationships are in seeing the results of that impact and how often they are the best path to creating depth in your life.
"I'm going to give 100%, and if they don't… that's ok".
Jason then brings up 'the 100/0 principle' by Al Ritter and the basic philosophy behind it. The guys explore some of the nuance involved in implementing this methodology and the finer points of deciding who is worth enacting this protocol on. The guys then move on to how you can implement this principle within a team and/or your family. Joey expands on why you need to relinquish any perceived control over how people react to you and how this can benefit your overall success. As it turns out, four-year olds are capable of meditation and the guys then discuss how accessible these techniques are. Joey and Jason talk about some of the previous guests and how their philosophies synergize with the 100/0 principle. The guys explore peoples need for recognition when doing 'selfless' good deeds and how that is something you should try to fight against. This leads into a discussion of that universal struggle that is bettering yourself, that so many people struggle with and how you cannot make any progress in that field without being honest with yourself. Jason talks a bit about self-awareness and how without it you will make little to no progress on yourself, or even worse, you may never realise that you have things you need to change.
The guys preview some of the upcoming shows and talk book recommendations, so there is a fair bit of homework this week. Don't fret it though they are good reads and can help you immensely. Grind out

The Grind is back this week with another insightful episode. After starting with a little Braveheart reference and reflecting on some of their recent guests, the guys jump straight into it.
"Surround yourself with people that push you".
Joey and Jason start by pinning down their definition of vision and then discussing how to prioritise in context of that, Jason also describes how many people can lose sight of their original vision and how he tries to avoid that. Jason then talks about specifics in terms of his future vision for his real estate ventures. This leads the boys to discuss goal setting and target prioritisation, but first Jason talks a little about his musical aspirations and other life goals. This topic highlights how having a unified set of goals across different areas of your life can synergise any momentum you gain, helping lead to exponential growth.
"If you don't want a lot of money, that's being selfish".
The next subject sees Joey and Jason talking about the importance of money vs time, when it comes to charity and helping others. Jason tells an anecdote about a family who built an orphanage in Mexico, and how there is a counterproductive stigma about wealth that is entirely misinformed. Joey then discusses risk and how fear of it stops some people from becoming as successful as they could have been. After Joey and Jason switch gears to talk about vices and the difficulties and benefits of abstaining from those vices. Joey goes into detail about how attaining goals can become more difficult as you get older, but it is important to approach them with a young person's attitude. To that end the guys talk about why you should try to be around people who will uplift you with positivity. Then the guys engage in some traditional Jason and Joey friendly competitiveness, as Joey talks about the 'Torkildson speaking empire' and Jason decides that they need to get into the merch game. Homework for this week is to let Joey know what your goals are, no matter how crazy or ambitious. And make sure you tune in next week for more insights, philosophy and motivation.
