Over the last 15 years of coaching, I’ve seen that there are 3 concepts that should be adhered to for a training program to be successful.
These concepts apply to any type of training not just lifting weights, concepts are universal methods change based on goals and circumstances.
There is more than one way to reach a goal however if these 3 are not adhered to the probability of success is extremely low in my experience.
Have a listen and let me know our thoughts!

What’s more important knowledge or experience?
I think both are important and sometimes knowledge needs to come before experience but for where I’m at in my life experience is more important.
Experience means you’ve taken action on the knowledge that you’ve gained, I believe it’s also the key to building confidence and resilience.
Have a listen as I go through a few experiences in my life that have highlighted that experience trumps knowledge and why it’s important not to get too consumed in knowledge gathering without gaining the experience.

In order to build anythng worth having its going to take some time.
This week I chat about having a long term mindset. How switching between a short term push and long term approach can be beneficial, and things to look at when trying to implement change or build something worth keeping.
Regardless of the goal, its going to take some time and you need to be prepared to keep stacking those little wins in order for it to stick.

Wow it’s been 2 years since I did the first episode of the Unstoppable Dad Project podcast, a new episode (almost) every week for the last 2 years.
This week is a bit retrospective looking back at some common themes over the last two years.
The biggest one is creating more time; how do you do it?
Short answer is you can’t, but you can be smarter about how you spend it, for me and a lot of dads it’s a constant battle to find the time to do what’s needed.
So, this week I talk about battling with the inner voice of not doing enough, quality over quantity, learning and priorities.
Thank you to everyone that has listened and supported over the last 2 years I appreciate each and every one of you!
Onto the next!

Getting back into sports in your 30's, 40's and even 50's can be tough. Especially after a long time off or never doing it.
I believe getting back into a community to do some activity can be super important as we get older for our physical and mental health.
But there is nothing worse than getting caught on the injury hamster wheel and not being able to take part.
In this episode I go through 3 things that you need to ask yourself/address before getting back into or starting a new sport.
Doesn’t matter if its social touch football, Jiu Jitsu, CrossFit or playing in the master’s football league you need to look at these 3 things to keep you playing and excelling in your chosen sport.

Stop chasing soreness and fatigue!
In this episode I discuss why chasing soreness and fatigue is the path to ruin for a lot of people. The old belief that you need to be sore or tired to be successful is false and is moving you further away from your goal rather than closer to it.
I look at the reasons why you don’t want to chase soreness and some tips on how you can minimize it.

“I wish I started earlier!” is a very common sentiment when it comes to making a change. Its one I have heard a lot over the last 15 years of coaching. Its also a sentiment I’ve echoed for some things in my life too.
But should you be beating yourself up about not starting earlier? The short answer is no.
In this week’s episode I chat about my experiences of regret around starting something later in life and why I believe if you’re at the point where you feel like this you shouldn’t be beating yourself up about it!
Let me know if this is something you’ve said or felt in your life.

Avoidance of tasks is common for everyone; it’s been a common theme in my life this year.
2022 has been a big year of change for me personally so this week’s episode is a bit of a reflection on avoidance, acceptance, and self-imposed limitations I’ve put on myself this year because of change.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the podcast this year, it means the world to me that you spend a part of your week listening to this.
See you next year ;)

Early on in my coaching journey someone told me "a good coach is should be doing their best to work their way OUT of someone’s life, not keep themselves in it."
That saying has been something that has stuck with me over the years, on this week’s episode I chat about what one of my favourite things about being a coach is.
I also talk about why you might not need a coach, despite what you may read on the socials.
Merry Christmas everyone and thank you for all the support this year!
