To be able to grow we must know what we have done. This is why writing down our positives and negatives from the year is so important This review of the year reminds us and brings to light where we have succeeded and where we could use some more work.

They could be business, personal, relational, or whatever else happened for you in 2020.  Sit in a quiet place away from distractions so you can really think about and write out all thats happened. 

Some of my positives from 2020:
Successfully starting my business and being able to make it profitable through the pandemic.
Increasing my strength through increasing workouts.
Spent more time with Hannah, my wife, and all our animals.
Had a lot of time to increase self reflection through prayer and meditation.

Some of my negatives from 2020:
Took a little while for me to really get my time management back once quitting my 9-5
When I first started out (April) I realized I wasn't balancing everything well so I was becoming anxious and stressed
Trips were cancelled.

So those are just some on my list. There is no specific length but try to get it all down. Next week we will go over how we can take this list and use it while implementing your goals for 2021.

An old man was doing his daily walk along the beach one morning, when he spotted a young boy crouched by the water, scooping something up from the sand and throwing it into the sea.

The beach was normally empty at this time of day, and so the old man stopped to watch for a while.

He noticed that the boy kept on shuffling a little further down the beach, then repeating this same action again and again – stopping, scooping, throwing, moving.

“What are you doing there, boy?” the old man asked, walking closer.

“I’m saving these starfish that are stranded” replied the boy, “if they stay on the beach they will dry out and die, so I’m putting them back into the ocean so they can live.”

The old man was silent for a few seconds.

“Young man” he said, “on this stretch of beach alone, there must be more than one hundred stranded starfish. Around the next corner, there must be at least one thousand more. This goes on for miles and miles and miles – I’ve done this walk every day for 10 years, and it’s always the same. There must be millions of stranded starfish! I hate to say it, but you’ll never make a difference.”

The boy replied “well I just made a difference for that one”, and continued with his work.

How Often Do You Make a Small Difference?

If everything you did had to have a huge, immediate impact before you gave it a little of your time, then you’d end up doing very little with your life. And sometimes, the little things we do can add up and turn into big things – they make ripples that spread further than we can see.

Those starfish that the young boy saved may have gone on to produce thousands more.

And just imagine if the man who stood idly by had saved one starfish each time he had walked that stretch of beach – he’d have saved 365,002 by now (depending on when the leap years fell!).

So the next time you get chance to make a small difference, don’t think of the big picture and just do it – after all, it might not make a difference to you, but to somebody else, it might.

You need to take care of three areas to achieve success; health, purpose, and wealth. Having gratitude every day puts you on a path to do just that... succeed! Gratitude improves each of those 3 pillars in our success journey.

Physical - Being grateful literally changes our bodies. It strengthens our immune system. It improves many different systems in our bodies as well. With our health in better standings we are then able to take action more successfully in our lives, relationships, and business.

Purpose - When we are grateful our attitudes change. We have more happiness and positive emotions. This helps us be in a mood to see our potential and purpose because we aren't in a negative frame of mind focusing on the past or fake future problems.

Wealth - When we have more gratitude we increase our ability for compassion, grace, and action taking. In this state we attract and create so many more positive outcomes for our situations. The aura you put off brings people you need to you because you're the person to be around!

So start implementing gratitude deliberately into your days. Watch how things start to change for you when you do!

Finding your sweet spot is key.  When we try to do all the things or help everyone we are going to have a slow journey.  We can't do it all and help everyone and we shouldn't. 

You were created with specific talents and strengths.  Use those aligned with your passions and solve a problem.  Not only will things be more enjoyable but they will also bring success easier than not.
