Burundian President, Evariste Ndayishimiye has officially taken over as the new African Union chairperson. He succeeded Angolan President, João Lourenço. African leaders are meeting in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa for the 39th ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU. Youth skills NPO, Afrika Tikkun has sounded a new and chilling warning as it projects that nearly five million young South Africans will vanish. The organisation says, the youngsters will not be leaving the country, and they will not be going into hiding, but they will effectively "disappear" from our economy. These are the matriculants of 2025 and the graduates of years past who, after months of silence from employers, are finally giving up. They are slipping into the shadows of the "Not in Education, Employment, or Training" category, becoming economically invisible and socially disconnected. As Africa navigates rapid development, climate change, and global uncertainty, the African World Heritage Fund says it will continue its 20-year legacy of ensuring that the continent's irreplaceable heritage is protected for future generations. Founded in the year 2006 by UNESCO and the African Union, the Fund aims to address two historic challenges: the underrepresentation of African sites on the World Heritage List and the limited financial, technical and human capacity to safeguard Africa's Outstanding Universal Value heritage. Police have confirmed that one of the men implicated at the Madlanga Commission has taken his own life. 41-year-old Wiandre Pretorious allegedly shot himself at a filling station in Brakpan East of Johannesburg in front of his partner, a police sergeant. Marius van der Merwe who testified under the name of Witness D, implicated Pretorius in the murder of a man in April 2022. On Thursday, he survived an attempt on his life outside his Boksburg home where gunmen fired 16 bullets into his car. Judges' Secretary, Andiswa Mengo's lawyers are gearing up to make submissions to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on the Judicial Conduct Tribunal Report outcome against Judge President Selby Mbenenge, which they charge "romanticises sexual harassment in the workplace". This, after the Tribunal Report recommended a lesser sanction of misconduct against the Eastern Cape's top judge, which effectively saves him from possible impeachment. The report is now in the hands of the JSC -- who hold the final cards on whether they will uphold the recommendation or reach a different conclusion. Canny Maphanga filed this report
