Cameroon has been stripped of the right to host next year's African Cup of Nations soccer tournament due to security risk. The decision was made by tournament organizer the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after a special meeting of its executive committee in Ghana. CAF president Ahmad, says the move to take the tournament away from the Central African country was "a crucial and decisive moment for the good of African football." This would be the fourth Nations Cup in a row to have change of host. Morocco is the favourite to take over the hosting of the expanded 24-team tournament, which is being held from June 15 to July 13 next year, with the preferred candidate to be named by the 31st of this month. In 2017, the National Consumer Commission (NCC) launched an inquiry into the vacation ownership or timeshare industry following a number of unresolved consumer disputes within the industry. Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan says Eskom has come up with a plan which will be updated weekly between now and the end of January with regard to making efforts to keep lights on. Gordhan was briefing the media at Megawatt Park in Johannesburg on Eskom's current operational challenges. Earlier Eskom announced that it would implement stage two load shedding from nine o'clock to ten o'clock at night. The power utility says this due to a shortage of capacity on the national grid. Lobby Group Afriforum wants the High Court in Cape Town to stop Parliament from debating the Constitutional Review Committee's report of amending section 25 of the Constitution to make provision for the expropriation of land without compensation. Afriforums wants a judicial review of the whole committee process. But Parliament says it will oppose the court application. Meanwhile, According to a recent survey by Afrobarometer, South African citizens want to prioritize the return of land taken from forced removals since the 1913 Land Act, because, more than a century later, the country is still struggling to redress this historical injustice and the inequality it continues to foster.
