Aid agencies say what Sudan is experiencing now is a crisis of historic proportions with over 25 million people across the country facing severe food insecurity, and at least 755,000 people facing catastrophic famine-like levels of hunger. The ongoing conflict between rival militaries and limited humanitarian access have led this rapid deterioration of food security in Sudan. This crisis is also affecting neighbouring countries, including Chad and South Sudan, which are hosting a large number of Sudanese refugees while dealing with their own conflict- and climate-induced crises.
