This podcast is about a topic that is very near and dear to my heart. Today I am talking about Anxiety:
What it is.
What it isn't.
The role it plays in my daily life.
If you suffer from Anxiety, you are not alone. In part 1 of this segment, I'll discuss my history with the disorder and the tools I use to help me cope each day.
I struggle to do things that are not connected to productivity. In particular, I have a hard time doing things that are just for the sake of fun. In today's episode I talk about the connection between productivity and worthiness and how I am really working at knowing that I'm already worthy. The things I do don't always have to further my lifestyle, career, bank account, home maintenance, personal fitness or qualifications. I'm excited to share how my son is helping me to make these connections and to change my paradigm.
Please join me as I work through how to do fun things, without attaching any meaningful outcomes, just because I deserve it.

For the first time, I have invited a guest into the Wellness Garden for a discussion about everything from friendship, to opportunity, to trusting your intuition. In this conversation with my fellow educator and best friend, Aaron Cowan, we talk about how we know which doors we should open and which ones we should close.
Thank you so much for tuning into The Wellness Garden.
When I turned 40, a light turned on for me and certain lessons I'd been struggling to learn my entire life began to finally sink in. I started to realize that I was spending more time doing things I didn't want to do than I was doing things I did want to do. How messed up is that?
Thus, the following list was born. I originally wrote it as a reminder to myself and thought that I would share it here for anyone who may benefit from the same lesson.
So here it is, "10 Things You Should Stop Doing Now".

Our kids are so much more resilient than we give them credit for. Prior to Covid-19, there was a lot of talk about this generation of kids being coddled and lacking in resilience. They are proving us all wrong now! In this video I talk about how the students are adapting to the new normal of school in Ontario, from a teacher's perspective. Their strength and resiliency are admirable and what they are going through is life-altering. Give them an extra tight hug tonight.
When our children are sad, mad or scared, that is when they need us to be optimistic, calm and soothing. Sometimes it’s hard not to mirror their emotions but here’s why we shouldn’t.
What is personal development and why do I make it a daily part of my life? For me, personal development means being in a life-long relationship with yourself. Who I am at 45, is a completely different than who I was at 40 or 35, or 30. As we grow and change, it is important to stay connected with the person that we are becoming as we are constantly in a state of "becoming". Please have a listen and if it resonates, please share and subscribe.

Our kids are going to be feeling all of the feelings in the coming weeks. The disruption caused to our daily lives by Covid-19 has been traumatic for everyone. In the blink of an eye, their schools, teachers, friends, teammates passions, hobbies were all taken from them and they were told to go home, stay there and protect themselves. Talk about overwhelming!
The result will be a residual trauma they they work through for some time. Trauma is when there are residual psychological effects caused by a distressing or disturbing experience. As our children return to school in the coming weeks, it is vital that we as parents and educators are compassionate towards their trauma, that we know they may be all over the place emotionally and that we understand they will all need to process this pain and fear differently. It is vital
